The second downloadable add-on for Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently planned to arrive in the second half of this year--meaning it'll hit sometime between July 1 and December 31, 2010--publisher Activision has revealed.

While discussing the company's lineup for the "back half of the year" during today's investor conference call, Activision Blizzard COO Thomas Tippl noted that is when "we plan to release the second map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2."

The game's first add-on, dubbed the "Stimulus Package," debuted on Xbox 360 in March 2010 before hitting PC and PlayStation 3 in May 2010, offering five additional multiplayer maps in exchange for $15. As with the first, the second add-on will be available to Xbox 360 owners first before eventually making its way to PC and PlayStation 3.

Pricing for the second add-on has not been revealed, though Tippl noted that "the $15 price point has still provided a fantastic value to gamers... we think that has worked."

The next all-new Call of Duty, meanwhile, arrives November 9 in the form of Call of Duty: Black Ops, which is coming from Call of Duty: World at War developer Treyarch.

Wassat, 40 quid for the gaem, 30 quid for the rest of the maps....

Cracking profit margin there.

Had to be done. What amazes me though is... how can it POSSIBLY take them between July and December to release a map pack? I know IW/Activision have problems and they probably hired a bunch of monkeys, but what the hell kinda could possibly take 7 months?

And who are they targetting with it anyway, Spec Ops will be out before then and there entire playerbase will be gone...

im not surprised, its been obvious for a while that activision are going to milk the call of duty cash cow for all its worth.

It's possible that only a select few people on the team are working on the maps, the others work on the next game/project. I personally think they want to delay the release of this map pack, no point releasing it straight after the first one. Wait until the hype is gone and people have got bored, then sell them more crap.

You're ******* with me right?

Just as I get Mw2 I find another map pack on the way, their is no way I'm buying this one then, I was even actually considering it... (buying the first one that is)

They can stick it , i tried mw2 for the first time since BC2 release yesterday and was horrified at how bad it was, and the very first game it throws me into there was a aimbot cheater running around carefree, what a truely POS game

I wont touch it again unless they release dedi servers

I didn't realise Treyarch were making Black Ops, I quite enjoyed World at War SP and MP, despite the stick I saw it recieve often.

I really enjoyed waw too, very good game once a few patches had sorted out the initial issues

Working on the next game :p Then only using 5-10% of their workforce on the new maps.

I bought the Stimulus map pack. Personally the amount i have played MW2 i thought 5 maps for a tenner seemed ok to me. However the limitations of the IWnet lobby make me unhappy. Basically i have to play the 5 maps on random game mode rotation, which does not float my boat. I doubt i will buy the second map pack mainly because i should be stuck into F12010 and civ5 by the time it comes out.
