MW2 Cheat Detected WTF?

Well if your gonna ignore the history of this I don't really consider your views to have any merit on this anyhow.

Roff you can't ignore the fact messing with a games EXE has always been considered a hack either.
Its a one sided view you have, the problem is ( as I have already said) that a hack to the exe can have been done by numerous other programs that you consider a hack. VAC have no way of knowing what has moded the exe exactly, or how it was.
A hack is a hack, regardless of an engines history.

Which is another way of admitting you know your wrong and Orderoftheflame is correct.

Argument fail.

It's quite clear that no one has been banned unless they've done something that is CONSIDERED cheating. Next time, don't mod and .exe and go online with it. Simple.

And what about me? My Steam account was hijacked, I get it back from them, and I'm banned from playing MW2. I even have emails from Steam saying that it was hijacked but they will uphold the ban.

Why am I the victim because some random person hacked my steam account and clearly either hacked using my account or modified something? I use a strong password (upper case, lower case, numbers and characters exceeding 14 characters), I am weary of phising sites, so clearly it's a lack of security on Steams side?

I now have no option but to buy another game and make another steam account. All my progress is lost (4th prestige, a lot of the badges etc). I put a lot of hours into the game.

Sadly, not everything is fair. You will just have to chalk this one down to 'one of those things'.

did you even read what you wrote ?

so you think steam has been comprimised and hackers have gained access to all the steam accounts just so they can go and cheat in a game of mw2.
and why would it be on your account...did these hackers who broke into steam have something against you ? did you kill one of these hackers ?

sorry i couldnt take your post seriously :p

Anyone got his email address? You might laugh, but I just got a very fast resolution to an issue with Vodafone by emailling their CEO.

EDIT, found it.

As said. Hard luck, your account was still banned for cheating in the end. I'm sure if Valve reversed these bans, they'd see a lot more accounts being "hijacked" just for people to get out a VAC ban. Harsh, but I don't see what they can do about it.

Steam having lax security? I see it being far more likely that you got phished and didn't even realise it I'm afraid.

How can I be phished to a Steam account? It logs on automatically, and I've never logged on to anything Steam related via an Internet browser.

I doubt it was someone who had something against me; the last time I played MW2 was around 4 months ago. The account was hijacked at the start of this month.

Well you did something, be it phising, keylogger, hacker or someone looking at what you entered over your shoulder.

Either way it certainly isn't Valves fault.

Accepting the excuse "My account was stolen" is just leaving themselves wide open. If your policy is no reversals, you don't make exceptions unless you are at fault (and in those circumstances they did). You'd wind up with players getting there accounts 'stolen' in order to hack on it and get it reversed later.

Indeed. As mentioned in this thread, if steam really was 'hacked' why would they go after your account specifically? They didn't. You may use your password on other websites? Perhaps these are less secure?

Regardless, as mentioned above (several times) this issue isn't at Steam's end I'm afraid.

Never really understood why cheats resort to rallying strangers on forums for moral support with their big teary eyes, clutching a hat in both hands, 'but I'm innocent guvnor!' routine... you got caught cheating, VAC bans are permanent and won't be investigated any further let alone removed, learn your lesson and move on.

Personally i do not think it is valves fault if accounts get hacked due to user error, but i do think it is very heavy handed for a first offence.

I dont know where this leaves me as i doubt my account was hacked, unless ghosts dabble in a bit of MW2.

But they're very imaginative you have to give em that. You should see the rallying on the VAC forum, bands of proven cheaters getting together claiming they can bring this to the media's attention and what not :p

So, without going through this whole thread, has the OP now admitted to cheating?

No, i suggest you read the thread otherwise why be on a forum and reply?

Other people have mentioned there bans and circumstances, i am saying getting your account hacked like some is not valves responsibility, but i do think a ban is harsh.
