So i was playing a couple of games of MW2 earlier and all was well no hackers or anything.

Thought id have a quick game of ground war so entered a game and it was in 3rd person, i thought it was a bit weird.

Carried on playing and had to jump over something all of a sudden i have launched 40ft in the air as well as everyone else. It was like we had jet packs or something!! When you hit the ground you didnt die either.

The game ended then loaded the next map and the guy who was hacking in the game made it so everyone sped up and he also increased exp.

So basically he had completely hacked the game we was in he could choose what map he wanted give himself any killstreak was proper crazy he could do anything.

Anyone else had this happen?

Yep, happened to me during the free weekend. Went into the game at level 21 came out at level 70 after killing one guy. Also had 'jetpacks' on and moved at an incredible rate!

Didn't buy the game.

Sounds like the hack that was doing the rounds on YouTube a while back that let the hosting player edit 'server settings' like gravity etc.

It got a lot of coverage as a load of people without a clue what they were talking about were describing it as 'dedicated server support'

Yeah been on a zero gravity game with unlimited noob tube, I just leave as soon as I know it's a cracked server. Loads of people use them to tenth prestige, you only have to look at there Steam ID page. They are level ten prestige, but have only played the game for 30 hours. You just can't get over 25 million XP in that short a time. I would guess it's got to take 500 hours of play, depending on gametype, to get there at least. I mainly play Domination and its taken me 350 hours to get to 4th prestige and I do well most of the time.

If this is what removing dedicated server/mod support does to the game, i'm glad I never bought MW2 for PC, and may well put me off buying future COD games.

I've heard nothing but problems about how MW2 does it's matchmaking/multiplayer woes with iwnet from various friends.

Few things happened to me on the PC version of MW2..

1. A few games have had the high jumping thing, I thought i'd found a new elevator at first!
2. Last night, playing FFA in Scrapyard, there was 20 players! It was like MW1 with spawn killingz!

Yeah host player has been using the console "hack" to play with server settings and either intentionally hosting with silly settings for kicks or is a noob and doesn't realise its also affecting the games they host.

Game has become a joke without dedicated servers - so many small things need changing that wouldn't take long to do and released as a small patch as well. Sucks because personally I like the core gameplay but everything wrapped around it is ludicrous.

Had my doubts about the game but bought it anyway based on the past COD/IW titles but I deff. won't be buying another COD/MW, ATVI or IW game again they've really shot themselves in the foot... if I hadn't already decided the interview with that creepy 420 guy who would put Goebbels to shame sealed it.

I would hate to spend ages waiting for a server to join to find out guys use console cheats :( makes me want to buy it less.

I must be lucky, I seem to miss most of the cheating going on. Just looked at IW forums and it is thread after thread about how screwed the game is, the Admins/IW just ignore it. What do they care though, they are laughing all the way to the bank :(

lol mw2

Anyhow, during the free weekend, I hacked my way to level 70 10th prestige as I couldn't be arsed to level up and I really don't care if I get banned because I'm still not buy MW2. I remember of of my games was a lowgrav one (so much for 'click one button and find a normal game) on Highrise and Rust. Good times. :D

We did warn you all :D

indeed but in my infinite stupidity i thought the matchmaking service would be bearable and that hackers wouldn't be a problem......never before had i been so wrong :D

this made me laugh though, found it at the official IW website a few months ago, just before giving up:

"Cheat / Hack Free Games: The biggest benefit of using IWnet by far is the fact that you don't have to worry about joining a server full of aim-bots, wallhacks, or cheaters. Or relying on the server admin of the server to constantly be monitoring, banning, and policing it. Modern Warfare 2 on PC allows us to control the quality of the game much more than ever before as well as utilizing the VAC (Valve-Anti-Cheat) system to keep games clean of hackers and cheaters."
