MW3 to have dedi servers added

Not really, they want to add them at some point, but then they say they wanted to do that with mw2... I'd be surprised to see them at launch still.

They realise imho that people bought the MW2 and blops en-masse simply because of a lack of alternative. With BF3 potentially trying to cater for all I can see a situation where the shear volume of people going down the BF3 route will have a massive impact on the MW sales. The way BF3 seems it will require a reasonable game time “investment” to get the unlocks etc and they probably realise that the majority of people will stick with the one title for a good potion of the time post release.

Where else could they go from a PC market share POV but to try and make it more attractive. If it shipped with full public SADS, mod tools etc etc and was akin to the Cod4 MW release then yes maybe people would be swayed towards it. As comical as the fool Robert Bowling and that PR exercise is, if it sparked a PC game “feature war” then from our POV its all good.

I’m not naive enough though than to think this is anything other than a damage limitation exercise geared towards holding on to some of their user base. If the console group take to BF3 in a big way (I think it’s a given the PC user base will) then they are left floundering with a user base heavily involved in an alternative title.

Did Treyarch not say simular stuff with regards to BOs modtools etc :( still waiting LOL

Its to market the game so they can either have the fastest selling game like BOs etc, or for once they are actually telling the truth. Think ill wait till its actually released before any consideration of purchasing.

I cant believe 25 people have even commented about this, i cant believe they haven't just given up on the pc market as im fairly sure nobody is going to buy this game so they may as well not bother

BF3 all the way. I'l only get MW3 if it ever does decide to release dedicated servers, which will be about 2 years after its been released...

Posting in a "I hate Activision thread", cuz I do.

Just think of the poor little servers, they grew up with high hopes of hosting porn sites or PC games, now they have to have this console crap installed on them.

If there is any justice in this world God will hack the servers and install BF3 instead!!!

It could be BS and they have no intention of doing it, who knows, who really cares.

This is probably most likely it, say they might have dedicated servers so people who actually understand why iwnet was so awful might buy the game.
Only to find its iwnet again.

I racked up thousands of hours on CoD UO and am disgusted to see what has happened to my once favourite title.
Roll on BF3.

I'll almost certainly be playing both MW3 and BF3. This 'one or the other' attitude is most amusing.

Agreed, I'll for one will be trying both. I'll decide which I'll stick to at the time. It appears from the article that the developers have learnt their lesson are are "listening". What that means only time will tell.

And some people don't want to waste £30-40 o na game they don't like?

This, I won't be buying MW3, not because I think it looks like a bad game, to each their own on that.
I personally don't like what has happened to the series, was never overly sold on the whole perks and more attachments than you can ever possibly need thing.

Gives me 40 quid to spend elsewhere, most likely skyrim.

Good for you then. The rest of us wont bother unless they actually have dedicated servers at launch. BF3 is the alternative unlike last time when there was nothing so people reluctantly bought it in the slight hope it might be decent.

the old saying fool me once etc applies here

I expect most of our group will buy both and decide for ourselves which we prefer and which gets most time. Seems amazing that everyone knows BF3 will be great and MW3 will be terrible months before either is released. Do you honestly believe the majority of casual gamers care about dedicated servers, most only buy for the single player campaign and don't go near multi because that part doesn't appeal. Millions of units sold and thousands online, you work out the mathematics, can't see huge numbers being put off by that arguement.

I expect BF3 and MW3 won't be that much different quality wise, but all the old hands will complain that the established game has all gone to hell and the new boy is doing it all right. That seems to be the vogue opinion and anyone who says different is a fanboy or an idiot, maybe even both  These polarisations are nonsense, both games will have their good and bad points, the same as MW2, BFBC2 and Black Ops.

If you don't want to buy what may be a great game and will buy what may be a poor game because your making a point or jumping to conclusions then say that. Don't make sweeping statements confirming your point of view as if it is indisputable fact before either is even out and there is something to base our comments on. I'm no fan of IWNet and would much prefer control of our own server, but I doubt that will stop us all buying it and giving the game a chance. In my experience other peoples reviews aren't worth much, it's your own experience that counts and if you love your FPS games then I expect you'll buy both and make your own mind up.

/RANT :D
