MWC 2016

Anyone heard any rumours involved with cyanogen, was hopping they would announce a new phone as would like to give them a go, but not keen on the current line up. Well the z1 is ok, but the reviews of support are well worse I've ever seen.

They've come out with a new platform:

but nothing so far about a new phone which was on their plans for this year.

I hope Sony don't go to 5 for flagship. That will be myself out I think.
I was hoping for a z6 tease.

I've not caught much of the Sony announcements - has there been any mention of the successor to the Z4 tablet??

I've been quite tempted recently but the price is just so high - if I'm gonna spend that kind of money then I might as well get the latest and greatest!!

Is this to replace the Sony Z5 ?

Given the specs I'd say the X-series was to slot in underneath the Z-series (hopefully at a strong price-point). Obviously in the Performance one it's gets the latest Snapdragon, but other than that the specs seem the same or worse than the Z5.

I'd be staggered if a superior Z6 doesn't appear later in the year.

I'm still a bit confused, but I wonder if Sony are as well. Unless a Z6 arrives it still seems at least on a par with the Z5 if not better. Will be interesting to see how its priced, if its a mid range price I'd be very interested.

The problem with Sony phones, like most of their products, is that they are so expensive. The Z5 and Z5C are brilliant phones, but I just can't justify the cost.

They are no more expensive than its competitors, intact they can be had fairly cheaply!

Word on the grape vine is that the X Performance is NOT coming to the UK

That's disappointing if true (though I do see it on the Sony UK website).

Sony are frustrating, they've announced 3 handsets plus an odd collection of gadgets, without any word on when, if, and where they will be available.

I think I read somewhere in the summer of 2016, but if that's the case then it seems a bit late for the X series to be on sale. I'm curious to see how well the normal X performs compared to the SD810, considering the SD650 uses a couple of A72 cores.

Is this to replace the Sony Z5 ?

Sony Italy (iirc) confirmed earlier the X range will replace the Z range on their Facebook page. Was mentioned on reddit today.

Bit of a shame really, I don't like the curved glass ends, it rounds off what was otherwise a very clinical and professional looking design of the old omnibalance style on the Z3 and Z5.

It also means placing the phone face down has more chance of scratching the glass. On the Z3 and moreso on the Z5 the bezel has a nice ridge that protects the glass from a surface when placed face down.
