Hi all. Kind of a 'spec me' thread really. Had a Logitech MX 700 cordless mouse for a number of years now and really like it but the scroll wheel has just died.

What would you recommend to replace it? Any users of the MX 1000 who can vouch for it?

Thanks for the reply.

They look good but I would seriously missing having the extra buttons that are on the 700; they really help me get things done much faster.

If you like the shape and are happy with a cordless mouse then the G7 gets my vote, I bought one recently and it is silky smooth plus it has a nice weight to it. If you prefer corded then a G5 is basically the same mouse but with adjustable weight cartridges instead of a battery pack.

Have you checked to see what the warranty is on it?

Logtich are very good, if its under warranty you can get a replacement from them with little bother.

Worth checking out. their support is a1

7 independently programmable buttons optimized with Razer’s Hyperesponse™ technology

Not enough

I've had an MX1000 since they first came out a couple of years ago, and I'm really pleased with it. It tracks beautifully, the battery life is excellent and it feels good in the hand.

PS The new Logitech MX Revolution looks really good.

I run an MX1000 it's a superb mouse. It took me a long time to switch from my chorded 510 as i game a lot and never trusted chordless.
Now i wouldn't be without it as it's perfect in every way.
Damn cheap an all these days.

BTW Logitech are Brilliant at returns so get on the phone about your old one.

I concur with this point. If its less than 5 years old you will be sent a new one most probably as a replacement like i was

Have to post my G7 carbon. Truly stunning mouse compared to my battered old MX700. I also don't know why people complain about there being a lack of buttons.

They scroll wheel can tilt to the left and right which i have setup as page back and page forward (great for web browsing), and the thumb button as minimize. Perfect combination, and i haven't even assigned the scroll wheel click as anything yet.

On-the-fly sensitivity adjusment is a godsend in games or in photo editing

Sweet m8 never seen that before :D

Ta, i love it to bits even though it costs an extra ~£16 over the standard one. But it does come with a LAN carry case :p

Forget to say in my little review that the G7 is FAR FAR lighter than the MX700 and the teflon feet on the bottom allow it to move all over the desk like a crazy hyper man on speed :D

Is that meant to be a special edition then? The one I bought in Canada looks exactly like that but doesn't seem to come with a carry-case or if it did I must have thrown it out :o

I like my MX1000, decent amount of buttons, all of which I use. Feels nice in the hand too, although it seems the newer (more expensive?) versions are a similar shape too.
