MX vs ATV Reflex

Ah there we go then, haha. Whats bad about it?

It doesn't feel right, i actually ride motox to this day and used to race when i was young. MX vs ATV was outstanding, it really felt as tho you were riding the bike, the turns, jumping, wheeling etc was spot on.... Reflex completely threw out all that was good about it out the window, I couldn't put the 1st one down, where as this one is couldn't wait to put it down, gutted i wasted my money on it!

I am looking forward to it anyway. Never played Unleashed so dont know what I am missing - lol

Just found this in a user review:

If you played untamed on the xbox 360, you'll know that its much the same game as unleased was before it. However, reflex is here, and it actually feels like a new game. The main change to the tried and tested forumula is the new control system. It doesn't sound like much, but the dual system control really changes the gameplay.

The key to getting good at previous MX games, was to learn the lines and jumps of the courses, to maintain a decent speed. This is still true of the latest game, but now you're in control of both the bike and the rider.

Sounds good to me.

I cant even find anywhere to purchase Unleashed to be honest.

Yeah, I like the sound of controlling the rider and bike seperatley. I'm so looking forward to playing the free roam mode, haha.

Got a motocross bike too goon, although I only ride it at the local practice track (Cefn Parc). As gimpymoo said, I'm looking forward to shredding some dirt anyway!

Sounds as though the game took a change and because it was different, some liked it while others did not.

From what I can read, die hard fans of the series did not like soo much while newcomers or more casual players adapted more easily.

Everyone to their own.

It happens in Pro Evo every year. Thy change the gameplay so it becomes a different game to the year before.

Sometimes, you just prefer it the way it was while others will "This is great" but it does not mean the game itself is bad.

Well, I've got mixed opinions on this so far. First off, its bloomin hard to get the hang of! But the actual riding, and the gameplay is really quite good. Pretty much how I remember Motocross Madness 2 to be :D

To me its clear as day though that this is a console port. For example, its acually laughable when it comes to the video settings.

Theres no aa or af. And its obvious when playing the game, quite a few jaggies aroung the place! Whats most frustrating about this is that I think the game would actually look rather good if it had a few more graphics options. I'll try and get some screenies up if no one else beats me to it.

I'm enjoying playing at the moment though, although I haven't touched the multiplayer side of things yet as I'm still getting the hang of riding!

EDIT: Just loaded the game back up and it looks completley different, when I first changed the settings from low to high I don't think it must have changed them. And has just done it when I've restarted the game. So pretty much ignore my comments! Ha.

borgia.

I agree Borgia.

The controls are challenging, but not in a bad way, one which makes the game more rewarding.

First impressions are good.

LOTS of gameplay types.

Steam Cloud support and Steamworks multiplayer matchmaking makes this even better.

Well it got the better of me, i pre-ordered an hour before it unlocked, its pretty decent, again i agree with Borgia on the graphics front, the controls are confusing to start with but they are easy to learn, still i press the wrong ones lol.

I'm using wasd & arrow keys! Never used a gamepad on the pc, although I think this could possibly benifit from it? Not sure though.

Bored of it allready, bland graphics and sounds are terrible. Controls are horrific. Wondering if recently released nailed looks better. :(

See told you!!! The game is utter rubbish, i know people are saying the control are "challenging" but trust me i've really tried to enjoy it and learn the controls but its simply horrible and even when i got the hang of it still doesn't feel rewarding, nothing works correctly, the fact you've got to keep the rider on the seat when he lands hard is rubbish!!

all in all this ame gets a 2/10 from me!!!

borgia - Yeah i'm not doing much of any riding atm, realyl skint since little one came along, think i'l leave it until the summer!

Ive got to agree with you aswell, there just isnt enough content - and the graphics while look nice in areas, its just...well..nasty and hurts my eyes after a while.

loving the game and its the best mx game out there at the min i think.

at least they gave us the dlc tracks that you had to pay for on the xbox.

see you on the track name is skid 34

Gotta disagree with you sorry Goon! Loving the game! Don't know why you think the controls are so bad, it takes getting used too sure, but its awesome once you get the hang of it. I genuinley can't see how they could improve the control system, its brilliant.

The game is definitely a little buggy at the moment, and with a few problems here and there. No in game chat, not being able to tell how many laps are left when spectating and all the issues that come with not having a server browser.

But if you can see past a few things (tell me one game where you don't have too?), when you are in a full server and theres 10~ riders battling for holeshot, and every corner after it, it feels awesome!

The game is apparently getting a patch soon too, so should hopefully sort out some problems with it running abit smoother, it can get abit choppy at times.

Defo worth £15 if you ask me, if your into motocross anyway :p
