MX5 = Awesome!

Nope 28. :)

List of mods:

GT28
down pipe
turbo exhaust
uprated CAT
Fuel regulator
Induction kit
custom forged pipework for turbo/intercooler/air intake
intercooler
kevlar/organic clutch (good for 380lb/ft)
Piggyback ECU

That's about it!

Why is it as soon as people go FI with an MX5 they sell them within the year? This seems to be a pretty common pattern.

I regret doing it actually. I wish I hadn't. I had a moment of sensibleness come about me. I should have just bought a small £200 shed for day to day use or for the space, and kept the mx5 (60 in just over 5s!!!!) for some fun!!

Meh, you live and learn. Nothing to stop me doing it again! :D

I'm sure I have asked you this before, did you do it yourself or have someone fit it for you?

There was a thread on here. He did it himself with a friend IIRC.

Sometimes I wish I bought something like am MX5 rather than the more expensive EP3 (at the time).

Most of the mechanical stuff was done with the help of people who know more than me, however then it was flatbedded to performance 5 who did all the tuning, ecu wiring and compression tests etc...

i've been toying with the idea of getting one

i have around 4k to spend on a car, i rarely have more than one passenger, and only young once so why not :)

i'll get a few more months from my current car before i jump in

bledd.

You want to buy as soon as possible as prices will increase as the weather improves!

Will,

Wow that has changed my view on the gt28 if you had that installed when I went in yours on a rolling road day. From memory you got yourself a flyin miata kit, I can't afford anything as fancy as that. :p Looks like I will have to do the hard way.

Yeah it was, it was the FM2 kit. But I changed the turbo to the 28 as the 25 they offered had come from a bad batch - they had problems with the bearings and I didn't want to wait another few months. The only disadvantage was the spool time was going to be a bit longer, but as it happens, the pipework was so short that it made little to no difference anyway, and with the recirc in place it really wasn't noticeable IMO. In fact from 3,250rpm or so it started to spool hard which was fantastic!
