That makes more sense, NBFLs had some extras that add weight

It's the Phoenix, heated seats and AC etc.

Well it was, it ended up in a hedge Saturday.
I was a little late to the weigh in party!

Went to test drive this today in 2L guise. Lovely car to drive and surprisingly comfortable, more so than my previous MK3.5 and even my Cayman.

Is that Guildford mazda - does John Crook still work there as a salesman, great name :D I ended up getting my MK3.5 from MKG3000 in Twickenham as they were significantly cheaper but used guildford mazda for servicing.

Hi guys,

Had running problems with my mk2.5 1.8 yesterday. Idle was all over the place and would drop very low and stall occasionally at junctions etc. Car would judder occasionally when driving at low revs/speed.

However, things would get better when the car was warm and driving at higher revs/speed. and would actually pull like normal when accelerating.

Am I right to be thinking along the lines that its the MAF sensor? Seems to me that the car would be bad when I would think it would be running open loop, but better in closed loop conditions?

TIA

That was indeed Guildford Mazda. I don't know about John Crook though. I used to take my car there for servicing as well.

Just £5 more than I just spent on a new roof for my one

I hope so, it might help to offset some of the money I'm spending on my one this year :D

The softtop is goosed on this one, picked up a hardtop for £250 though, in black! :D

Already bought coilovers for it, next up are brakes and a turbo setup!

G19 Kit is the only one to consider now IMHO, his cast manifolds are second to none as far as quality (Apart from maybe FlyinMiata)

@MrKnifey saw your post on Nutz if you've got any question feel free to drop message.

Did the turbo conversion on my Mk2 myself including the tuning last year.

This certainly doesn't get old

I bought mine as a hobby car nearly four years ago and so far I've.... er.... polished it a couple of times :o

I guess for me part of the problem is that it just does everything I want anyway. No need for a track setup and turbo etc. to take a steady trip to the coast :D

Got the car booked in for a full respray to the correct colour, since the wings that have been de-rusted are now the wrong colours.
Mirrors and the windscreen frame are going to be done in black as well.

Also bought a wheel from eBay I'm going to have re-trimmed, a guy I know who frequents the Renault forums says I need to contact a guy called snappy based in crewe. His work does look awesome.

I want to like it but it just looks wrong to me, it might work if the bonnet wasn't so high (especially the lights). I'm guessing its a vehicle / pedestrian safety thing as all modern small convertibles seem to suffer from the same design.

Was reminiscing :o about my old mk2 today, thought I'd do a reg check to see how she was doing and both tax and MOT has expired so looks like she has been scrapped. :( Still tempted to get another one but might be best left as happy memories.

Try cleaning the throttle body. Take off the plastic intake pipe and have a look around the butterfly valve, chances are it's choked up in oil and gunk. Get some throttle body cleaner and a cloth and clean it up as best as you can.

I was always under the impression that throttle body/carb cleaner was bad on these due to a coating that was used on the internal faces?

Carb cleaner isn't ideal, however throttle body cleaner is fine as it's designed not to remove the coating. TBH though most people just use carb cleaner as it's easier to get a hold of and don't have any issues.
