Mx5 project log

Same lift, just longer duration. As standard the exhaust cam has longer duration than the inlet, so this just matches the durations for both.

Picked up the front 22mm arb, can't complain at £20. Will need to bend the ends to make it fit my Mk1, but will only take 5 mins to do that.

Bit of a complication with springs, I am waiting a few weeks so he can give me the exact ride height I want. Ahh well it is worth it, his work is excellent, with him supplying Gaz. Had some springs made by him for the Dolomite and the quality was good. They were properly terminated which is good.

I'm pretty sure you have to re-drill the index hole on the inlet pulley to get the timing correct if you do this mod? (or use a vernier pulley).

Recommendation for brakes as things stand would be using the genuine Mazda front discs and Yellowstuff pads. Just changed over and fairly pleased already with the results tho tomorrow at Cadwell will really work them. Seems to be the best compromise for spirited/track driving whilst maintaining useful braking performance from cold.

Which I have done now, 197.5 degrees clockwise from original position. :) That's why it runs so much better now.

Kitchster_uk,

Yep my friend has the same setup and it seems good.
