Hi,
I have a laptop which originally came with 3GB (2gb + 1gb) ram. I replaced this with 2x2gb corsair. The originals were "6400S" and the corsair are 800Mhz DDR2.

One of the corsair sticks have gone faulty so I've taken it out.

Now my question is, whether or not is it a good idea to put one of the original sticks back in to the laptop?

Edit: The original 1gb stick says on the sticker "2Rx16 PC2-6400S-666" and the 2gb stick "2Rx8 PC2-6400S 666-12-E3"
The corsairs say "DDR2 800Mhz SOD KI"

might be possible, u will need to try it and see, i dont think any harm will come from trying it.

make sure you set the ram timings manually though. personally to begin with i would set the timings very loose. then tighten them as they pass the tests.

if you notice a problem that u cant get around just take out the one u dont want.

FYI, we'll replace the failed module for you. Sorry you had an issue with it.

Most notebooks have a very forgiving BIOS so you should be fine mixing the old module back in while you RMA. Most likely you cannot set timings manually but it should run fine at SPD settings if it's going to work at all.

Hi thanks for the info.

I have just sent the RMA request via the website and will use the other module plus one of the originals from the laptop for the time being.
