I have been looking at the new Mach Xtreme SSD's as im thinking of going SSD again as the tech should be better now than a couple of years back however I saw this in the specs of these two:
MXT Mach Xtreme 2.5" SATA 6GB/s MX-DS TURBO PREMIUM Edition 60GB SSD [MXSSD3MDSTP-60G]
- NAND Flash: MLC
- Capacity: 60GB
- Interface Type: SATA III
- Form Factor: 2.5"
- Dimension: 99.8 x 69.63 x 9.3 mm (LxWxH)
- Lightweight: 80g
- Max. Read Performance: Up to 540MB/s*
- Max. Write Performance: Up to 490MB/s*
- IOPS: up to 60,000
- Warranty: 3 Years
MXT Mach Xtreme 2.5" SATA 6GB/s MX-DS FUSION 60GB SSD [MXSSD3MDSF-60G]
- NAND Flash: MLC
- Capacity: 60GB
- Interface Type: SATA III
- Form Factor: 2.5"
- Dimension: 99.8 x 69.63 x 9.3 mm (LxWxH)
- Lightweight: 80g
- Max. Read Performance: Up to 530MB/s*
- Max. Write Performance: Up to 490MB/s*
- IOPS: up to 80,000
- Warranty: 3 Years
So basically the more expensive "TURBO PREMIUM edition" has 10MB/s more on reads, and 20,000 less IOPS. Am I correct in thinking this isn't actually a good thing? Im confused now as I always thought IOPS was great for real world usage and max read speed only helped copying files and such :S I don't know what to be looking at
