Hi everyone,
been lurking on the site for a while and never posted a thing. Bought this back in june or july as i had been looking for a 205 this last few years or so after selling the first one i had. as usual when i go to buy anything they've skyrocketed in price and are scarce on the ground, this was no different. Got in contact with a fella off the site who had one stood in his garage this last few years, wasn't advertised. He said he had plans for it but and just hadn't the time. When he got it he put timing belt kit on it and serviced it before parking it away. Arranged to view after a few weeks, viewed, thought and then bought.

its a black, phase 1.5 1.9 - non sunroof model.
It's got a full Peugeot stamped history, 64k genuine miles, folder of MOTS, receipts, original books, 2 previous owners.

The car as it is now is as original. Parcel shelf, clarion radio, original keys, mats, mudflaps.

Boot floor, inner wings, below seats, floor pan all solid, having a car lift is very handy.
All the trims are in great shape as are the lights and driving lamps.
Interior is more or less immaculate bar a few slight blemishes.

the car at the minute is stripped back for repairs at the rears of both sills, once this is finished its onto the paint booth and get it back together for the 'good' weather.

anyhow, ive been gathering as much NOS 205 bits as i can and have a nice collection if i ever need anything for this. Cant wait to get it completed and enjoy it like it should be.

heres some pictures
my first love maybe someone on here has it?

my 1993 phase 2 every other day car
so, after a quick scrub on friday evening here are some photos i took on saturday, i think it looks 10x better and that was only a quick polish and a wax.

started with some APC and a soft brush

there was green moss in every nook and cranny

rinsed it then shampoo and rinse again

dried off and into the small garage for a bit of heat lol

starting to shine again

pulled it out on saturday when it was dry(ish) to see how it looked in daylight.

bit more respectable looking in my view, needs a few things sorted now over the coming weeks.

came across some new old stock parts this weekend :)

and a selection of some new bits i have, only a few :)

il get some pics of my 1.6 phase 1 later.

Nice to see some 205 Love on here, I remember the first time I saw the Red carpets then it was how Light they were & how much fun you can have in the 1.9, Cheers for sharing

A good friend of mine had a 1.6 GTI and I remember being VERY impressed with handling of the 1.9 I tried. IMO the best handling hot hatch of it's time.

Love the 205GTI, loved the R5GTT more though ;) Loved the old hot hatch scene, some of my best driving experiences ever.

Thanks for sharing your awesome collection

thanks everyone, the 205's seem to always get some love no matter.

an interesting one here for any 205 people. i bought a bare shell with a few panels etc
ended up checking chassis VIN on scuttle panel. it is a 205 gti 1fm special edition, turns out it is no.12 of 25.
possible bring back from the brink of death situation on my hands at the minute but heres a picture of it back in the day

the 1FM was a radio 1 special edition build for the radios anniversary.

and my phase 1 1986 which is awaiting restoration

Very

I had a 1987 1.6, 1988 1.9 and a 1991 1.6

I had every intention of putting a 16V engine in the 1991 - a garage local ish to me used to do it all in for a grand. He still owns the garage and is still 205 mad! I bought an Impreza instead though. At the time I also looked at a Sorrento Green 1.9 which had a genuine Turbo Technics conversion.

Edit - just remembered. Every time I see a 205 I coo over it - there was a minty mint green 1.6 at the autosport show. My GF thinks they are sheds - long way home from the NEC on foot. :)

I was a bit of Peugeot nut in my teens as were a lot of my friends. Had a 306 1.6XS as my first car and went onto a 306XSI 16V as my second. I nearly bought a grey 1.9 GTi for £1500 which only had 70k on it a few years ago. Wish I did now as they have sky rocketed in price. Would love one the future but the prices are slowly getting out of reach for what I think is acceptable. I still think I might get a 306 GTI-6 at some point in the future though.

Good work my man! If I had a garage I'd certainly get one and sort it out like you're doing!

I had 3 as well a few years back. A red (actually orange) 1.6 GTi, a black 1.9 and a green 1.9. A lot of fun to drive, great feeling and lift off oversteeeeeer always kept things interesting :-)

Here's my old green one:

actually found a pic of the black one too;

Very much miss both, a lot of fun. And yes a good one now if well looked after should appreciate nicely in value now.

The 205 has always been in my list of cars i've always wanted ever since my 205 Junior 1.1

I wish i'd bought one but now with the ever increasing prices, no where to really store it and a young family it would probably be a bit pointless. My daily drive is also a WRX STi so i'm not sure if a 205 would still do as much for me. (To be fair on the 205 its probably infinitley more chuckable and theres a lot to be said about driving a car at its limit rather than driving a car at yours if you know what i mean?)

Awesome collection though. Maybe one day...

Some before and after shots of a friends 205 GTi at a rally a couple of weeks back. He's owned the car for a long time (25 years or so) and used to take his kids to school in it before it became a rally car, so quite a sentimental loss as well as financial. Still both driver and navigator walked away without a scratch and the engine and box will go straight into the 306 shell he's preparing.

Oops the above doesn't look so good :(

But nice to see the OP got himself a mint 205. When I was looking at them a few weeks back I was stunned at how much they are for something half decent and usable - then the Mrs put her foot down and said no anyway :(

The green one looks amazing. I cannot say I have ever seen a green 205 GTI on the road!
