So I just put a brand new DVD into my 360 (Training Day), and the bottom right corner of the light flashes red. I restart the console and this time the DVD works but after a couple of minutes watching, the console freezes and there is blue dots all over the picture. I try again to watch the DVD but the same thing happens.

Has this happend to anyone else and is it possible that theres something wrong with the DVD (its brand new remember). Because I sold my DVD player after I got this 360 thinking I would no longer need it but now it looks like a bad decision.

it's a 360, so probably.

but seriously, is it all DVD's? and like Stelios asked, does it do it with games too?

Mines been doing the same thing with games since I turned it on the other week, it had been off since mid December I think. Was fine until I downloaded the dash update and now it just seems to be overheating or something.
Get red or blue blocks over the screen (like a graphics corruption) after 5 - 10 minutes after booting up.

Dude, why not go show your fanboyness in one of the bitching threads, rather than just try to start a war in every thread?

heyyy that was just the one bitchy comment in a thread, sorry wont do it again.

if Tony Hawk's is freezing so quickly, i would say back to the shop with it tbh.
Is it an old xbox?

Nope I bought it on the 27th of December, I kinda wanted a Wii at the time but couldnt be bothered to wait for stock. Do you reckon they will give me a refund at the store I bought it from?

Is it 28 days for a refund in most places i think? so i think you would have missed the boat, unlessyou get a sympathetic store. Failing that it will be a replacement from the store bud.

By a day?

The consoles have a 12 month warranty (13 on the launch consoles, or does that apply to them all?)

As far as I'm concerned, any Xbox that screws up within the first 3 years is faulty from the factory.

According to the Sale of Goods Act, http://www.dti.gov.uk/consumers/fact-sheets/page24700.html, I'd put the Xbox as having an inherent fault... as a hell of a lot of consoles break, so there's definitely a design issue and they shouldn't have left the factory like that.

I can't see you having a problem getting a refund/replacement tbh, but if you do, just print out the Sale of Goods Act and start quoting it, loudly, in store, for other customers to hear.

Damn Microsoft deliberately programming their console to break 2 days after refund date. I dont think I could have got a refund anyway, it came with Rainbow Six and I already sold that game!

Im really not in the mood to go through the process of getting a replacement

Yeah he would still miss it by 2 days.
I do agree it was faulty and the shop is liable for a replacement, don't bother with the MS return thing. But i do not think the Sale of Goods Act would cover him for a refund, since it is over the 28 days, though i may be wrong.

Stelios i know what you mean i shouldn't lower myself to it, but i honestly couldn't resist lol with the amount of bashing going the other way, that was just one for the dark team lol

Now you mention that, my 11/06 console is solid as a rock, but my other 08/06 console was regularly freezing.

we have had a lot back from the xmas period, just hope they sort this problem out
having said that, mine's a launch 360 and been playing pgr and oblivion for upto 6 or 7 hours at a time,no problems

Not too serious an add on top, I got my 360 less than a week ago now...And although I havent seen the infamous red light yet...The xbox has frozen about 5 times during this time...which is kinda annoying half way through a huge mission.....Is this normal??

Is it because of heat do you reckon? I have it on a shelf on a tv stand...which obviously isnt giving it as much breathing space as possible...but I heard bad things about putting it on the floor
