Right when this BC2 patch finishes downloading, i'm whipping in the 400w Corsair. So it should be fine to run my rig even with it being 400w?

I just put your system through this PSU calculator

I said you were using:

- a stock Q8200
- a 5850 graphics card
- 1 DVD drive
- 1 SATA HDD
- 4 USB devices
- 1 additional PCIe device
- a high end motherboard
- 2 sticks of RAM
- 3x 120mm fans

It said:

Minimum PSU Wattage: 322 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 372W

Edit. It only has 1 six pin connector...So i have pretty much got to guess what the problem is? I bought both the PSU and GPU from OCUK in the last month...So i can return either.

Cool. Do you have a molex to 6-pin PCIe adapter so you can plug in the second 6-pin connection on the 5850 to the PSU?

Should do.

Obviously use the 1 included PCIe power connector in the first slot on the 5850 and the adapter in the second.

I should also add (Forgot to say) At one point i removed the USB for the keyboard from the back, and it just turned of...Otherwise all of the shut downs have been complete random.

Hmm, I remember doing something similar a while back (with a USB memory stick) and the motherboard died.

Did this happen recently?

You may have to reset bios. Try taking out the cmos battery and afterwards see if the system boots fine with 5850. It does seem that something in your system is definitaly causing instability. I would suggest doing a motherboard test and disconnecting other parts such as hdds and optical drives.

Boom, it just turned of again when i removed a front USB port...So i have had a shutdown for a back USB removal and front...Plus random shut downs when i have done nothing.

I would certainly recommend it. What motherboard do you have?

Yes, this increasingly sounds like a motherboard problem. Do you have a separate PC you can try the 5850 in to check if it is fully functional?

I don't sadly. I will reset the bios now, download the drivers; and see how it goes.

Sorry, I should have said - you will be wanting to install (flash) a new BIOS. This is a different thing from getting new motherboard drivers (which are also worth updating).
