Hey folks, this build is really nothing special in comparison to some of the projects in here, but it's my first full build in 8 years and don't really have anyone else to share it with, so thought some of you might appreciate it even if on a very small scale!
So I recently upgraded (which folk who have been in the 9800X3D thread will know). I upgraded everything except the GPU (3080 10Gb) as I'm waiting to go the whole hog and get a 5090 in January (or whenever I can get one).
The specs:
Case: Lian-Li O11 Evo RGB
Mobo: Asrock X870E Taichi
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
CPU Cooler: Lian-Li Galahad II LCD SL-INF Performance
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x32GB DDR5 PC-48000C30
OS Drive: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB
Game Drive: WD SN850X 2TB
GPU: Existing 3080 10Gb (for the time being)
PSU: NZXT C1500 ATX 3.1 (It's overkill I know, but I wanted max headroom for the 5090 and beyond....and nowhere had any good ATX 3.1 PSU's in stock at 1000-1200w)
Misc:
Lian-Li vertical GPU mounting kit
6x Lian-Li SL-INF Reverse Blade fans
1x Lian-Li SL-INF (Regular) fan
I swapped out the 3 fans on the AIO for 3 of the reverse blades for the aesthetics, so the cooling config is:
Top: 3x Exhaust
Side: AIO 3x Intake
Bottom: 3x Intake
Rear: 1x Exhaust
Build Pics:
This was in the early "I'm rusty and out of practice at this" stage as I spent way more time than I expected/wanted getting the case setup the way I wanted and everything unpacked so I had to sit down take a breather and take stock .
Once I finally decided "Ok let's do this". I got the mobo, nvme's, CPU and RAM in. Then got the AIO lined up properly on the EVO's bracket (first time the bracket wouldn't clip as the radiator was slightly too low).
(Yes it's a xmas table cloth, it was the only thing on hand to protect the glass table )
Everything in, except the vertical mount and the GPU. I actually took some real time to worry about cable management this time around as usually it's pretty mediocre and "good enough" for me, but I'm quite proud of this one. (Sorry I forgot to take a pic of the backside but trust me it's actually half way decent and not just a rat's nest of cables, I promise. Can take a pic later if my trustworthiness on this is in doubt )
FIRST BOOT (Fingers crossed! ) [Sorry for vertical filming but I was doing it one handed and was knackered by this point ]
(This is my first AMD build in a long long time, so I quickly realised that code 15 is memory training and everything was cool)
All done, just need to put all the glass back on.
Dicking around with RGB....as you do.
......and once I finally decided on the full final setup theme (Yes I like Jinx, sue me)
