My AMD Gaming Platform

i don't like water cooling, it's too unreliable, i've already had 2 kits go pop on me.

Well if you will buy kits... Not thermaltake I trust?

The only point of failure I can see with water cooling is the pump, and if concerned about this you can always run two of them. I consider watercooling more resilient than air, transporting a case with a true hanging off the board is asking for trouble, and if the fan on a graphics card dies I can't see the card lasting long. Personal preference I suppose.

Self deprecating though the op was, you've got a nice system there. The case isn't my thing either, for the reason mentioned above of not wanting it open to the elements. I can too easily see the missus spilling water/tea on it, or myself drunkenly falling into it. I suspect it to be quick, even at stock however. May I enquire as to the previous bad experiences which put you off overclocking?

The only thing I would suggest will be to buy 24" monitor for this kind of monster setup, otherwise you'll be wasting money for this kinda spec with only 1680x1050 res.

For 1680x1050 you could just as well go with something half the price and won't really notice much difference.

And regarding future proof? It doesnt exist anymore, the new stuff is coming way too fast, you buy yourself a 4890x3 because you want it to be future proof? And then 8-12months later comes out new GPU that is 2x more powerfull for half the price u've paid - yet meanwhile using your current 4890x3 you probably didnt use more than 30% of its power.

The only reason I would spend so much on PC would be to OC the heck out of it, bench it and sell it.

Just my 2cents.

Read a review that claimed that the Sunbeam does not work well with quad cores for some reason or other. Don't even have a CPU cooler atm so can't comment further! That review recommended the Scythe Mugen II instead, for what it's worth.

My Scythe Infinity (Mugen 1) cools my Q6550 @ 3.8 nicely, in the current heatwave it idles at around 40 to 45 across all cores, and loads at around 55 to 60.

Hows that motherboard treating you? Ive been looking at a few reviews since Im planning an AMD AM3 build myself and that board was definitely topping my list at its current price.

If you are planning on purchasing Windows 7 when it is released October 22nd it might be helpful to know that for a limited time only you can pre-order your copy of Windows 7 for a discounted price of more than half off! For more information, see the Windows 7 Pre-Order offer page here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/buy/offers/pre-order.aspx

I'm going to miss your fleeting 'cold calls' when MS's campaign is over. ;)

They can only ship within the US, Jess. Will MS be offering something similar for here?

EDIT: a simple yes or no will suffice - because if you give a link you may get a wrap on the knuckles from the mods.
