Akasa 965...great cooler - similar to the arctic cooling freezer pro 7 in design. i brought as it is pretty cheap and fitted on my mobo fine.

Been reading about this cooler dude, I'm gonna say you have your fan on upside down? should overhang at the bottom not the top, but perhaps it;s sits to close to the ram or something hence your 'mod'

Can I be a real bore now and ask you the height of it? Review sites are all quoting different numbers at me and would love to know basically how high the top sits from the mobo, right to the heatpipes, power down the PC before measuring!!! -or use a plastc rule ;) thanks man :D

ill get the measure meants today for you when i have time. and yeah the fan/cooler frame is upside down. its because it was touching my ram (probably because of the matx layout) and i wasnt really happy with that but upside down it left a bit of room in between the too. didnt change temps or anything at all.

Cool, I read that it's to help cool the mobo down, mosfets/caps and all that junk, but if your machine is stable and running good then I don;t see it being a problem, the big meaty exhaust fan helps too I'd guess :D

temps are pretty decent for me, bios reads cpu at 28c, akasa fan controller reads cpu around 30c. i have fan at 50% for it to be quiet. erm so yeah it works well for me and thats with a slight overclock to 2.6hz (damn mobo isnt that brilliant). i got it cheap for only a tenner on sale, and it replaced the noisey and toasty stock cooler which i had been using. it looks a lot better too ;)

EDIT: oh and thats with fans all on low and with the big 140mm rear top exhaust removed.

measurements (pretty rough as it was hard to tell): but from the back of the motherboard tray (including stand offs) to the tip of heatpipe (which you can see in the pic) is 16cm. and i get about 1.5 inches of clearence between the tip of the heat pipes and the side panel.

the actual cooler is about 14cm thats from the base of where the cpu touches, to the tip of the heat pipes.
