My Apple Migration Experience

Dont really care for carplay or android auto, find them more annoying than using them tbh
I use Android Auto and find Google maps navigation far better than the cars built in SatNav. The maps look nice on the screen too the built in ones are a bit bland.

My car only supports Android Auto so have never used CarPlay so can’t comment on that.

I have a magsafe holder for my phone, so just bring up maps on there when I need to. otherwise select music from there with relative ease

Gaming - Windows PC that's only used to play games.

I’d remove Windows from that sentence. Although Windows is by far the biggest gaming platform, I’ve used Bazzite Linux on my gaming PC for well over a year now. So good not having to deal with Windows and it’s foibles

I was under the impression that not every game can run off it, DRM wise? That was the only reason I haven't switched, as I'm all for Unix, hence the love for mac's, being that they're closed source BSD.

That’s a good point that I keep forgetting as I don’t play those games and have no interest in doing so. Think it was the CoD games especially that were problematic.

Ok, any Mac OS pros help me out on this one....

How can I make my Mac Air prefer ethernet? I've just had to manually disable the wifi to get it to use my wired ethernet....
Sorry if already answered (didn't read the entire thread, lazy!). You can set service order in network settings.

Have wired at the top in the next screen followed by Wi-Fi. It should then prefer wired when you dock it. With that said, sometimes I have noticed it doesn't switch so I tend to just disable Wi-Fi for a bit then enable it again. Just a Mac thing I think.

Agreed about upscaling videos, my 4090 beats down and laughs at any Mac M chip for proper editing, not that I do it often.

It's more anti-cheat then DRM that is the issue, even though two of the major anti-cheat providers have linux support it's more a chocolate fireguard solution since they are only allowed to run in user space and can't touch the kernel at all meaning that it's a lot easier to get around (although the same could be said for anti-cheat on windows even with solutions that require TPM and secure boot).

Oh, I am a primarily mac user as of late May this year after getting fed up of all the crap M$ was pulling and only ever have a windows PC running for games that either don't work on mac or have long since stopped being supported on mac.

COD is one of the games I play online :(

Same, Mac for everything, Windows for games.
If there's ever a day when anti-cheat/DRM, isn't an issue, without me having to do anything, I'd jump ship then and there, but I can't be bothered to mess around these days, nor dual boot on a Linux machine, with Windows for the odd game that it doesn't support.
I just want to turn it on, and it work for gaming.
