Damn these drives.....


SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO noisy.

When I turn my pc of the silence is overwhelming. How can this be legal.


Do not buy a 320gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 16mb cache HDD. Noisiest mofos around.


p.s this is the pink glue.



Its a real shame. I have my Zalman on silent @ stock with no northbridge fan and the GTX on silent. The psu and case fans have no noise. Its just the bloody HDD.



TBH it could be the case as my 3 dvd rws are Extremely noisy as well.


Either way damn the HDD and the NZXT Lexa Classic :mad:
 
That sucks - seagate drives used to be comfortably quiet - but I've noticed of late they aren't half as good noise wise...

If quiet is your thing then the last 2 samsung spinpoints I bought are almost entirely silent - however they aren't even half as reliable as a good seagate drive so I'd doubly make sure anything critical was backed up.

that would be your problem then, pink glue drives are made in china and tend to be noisy most of these were recalled , the green glue drives like mine were made in singapore and are much more quiter than yours, did you buy it from ocuk?

i bet you bought it from OCuk?

LOL i got mine from else where 320GB with pink glue and its the most silent hdd in my rig, had it a week.

before that i got a 250GB version from another place which was also silent but that had a locked patition so got a refund on it.

Could have sworn it was the pink glue that was quiet........

Oh well. Ill just give the drive to my dad and buy some more HDD. I mean who cares £70 quid either way

It's also substantially slower (well, depends on use). I don't call 20% slower sustained read, not much either.

As Massive Attack says, the WD AAKS is a good go between. I have to say, I have 4 320GB 7200.10's and all are silent tbh. Pink, green and no sticker versions.
 
I've had 2 x 320GB 7200.10 now for a while, both are pink glue, made in China, but both are quiet.

As regards the AAKS series, I have 2 x 500GBs and find them really good bits of hardware, would have to say that they are probably the best 7200rpm HDD around at the moment. :)
