We held our traditional wedding in India a couple of weeks ago. Here are a couple of pictures. We had functions for 5 days, each one got progressively bigger and more elaborate until the wedding day.

Overall it took 2 years to plan everything, we had 4 functions in the uk and 5 in India,

My ride (with my cousin next to me)

The procession going to the venue, this takes about 1 hour and involves my side of the family walking there with a band playing (the guys in orange) and dancing on the street with fireworks. I am riding the elephant at this point.

The wedding mandap (where the wedding takes place), not many people really watch the wedding most just eat and mingle

We are now on our honeymoon and will travel around Thailand, Bali, Malaysia, Singapore and India until the second week of Feb.
Now I am just bragging but here is our hotel room in Bangkok, 3000 sq, with 4 balconies, kitchen, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms (I took a couple of friend with us on the first week of our honeymoon)

Looks a grand wedding, congratulations.

Why so many functions though?

Thats just how Indian weddings are, we had one wedding in the uk as 2 member of our family are very ill and would not make it out to India for the wedding.

I had a lot of friends fly in from Czech Republic and all over the world so we really had a fantastic time. Just image having 30 of your closest friends stay in the same Hotel as you and party every night for a week.

Epic wedding :D

Must have cost a fair whack though

Is the wife decorated/painted like that all over ? :o

And more importantly is it edible :D

Congrats!
India looks grand, well, not majorly different to Pakistan where I was hired to shoot a wedding in December :p

The video camera with the crane equipment looks familiar, the guy who did the videoing for the Pakistan one told me the crane he used was one of a kind too, the lies!!!

Looks great though, and the one in blue ¬_¬

The mile long walk must have been something, the walk in the one I shot wasn't quite as long but the heat made it hard work!

This was the horsey carriage:

I was expecting an Elephant at first lol, always wanted to touch an Elephant :o

No just arms and legs, but we went to a Fish spa in Thailand and they found it to be very edible.

Looks good.

The hotel in Bangkok - that Lebua @ State Tower? Was there a few weeks ago - great food in the restaurant upstairs ;)

Where you planning on going in Malaysia? Guess the West coast as in the east most things are closed

Yep its the Lebua, very nice hotel but I am back in Bangkok today and staying in the Hansar which only opened around a week ago. Its a lot nicer.

I was in KL for4 nights ( stayed in the mandarin oriental) over new years eve. I loved the city. We went to some club called Zoop (or something like that). The only thing I was not happy about is that we paid 500 pounds for a table in the mandarin for new years eve which turned out to be a little bit of a let down.

Singapore was also very nice, my wife now wants to move out there lol.

We are off to Chiang Rai tomorrow.

Yeah thought so, recognised it from the balcony :p

Mandarin Oriental is a nice hotel - although didn't stay there last time because of the building work outside, not sure if its finished yet :p The club you mention is probably Zouk , not too far walking distance from your hotel.

I wouldn't like to move to Singapore, living is too expensive compared to KL and surrounding areas :p NYE fireworks in the center looked good, I stayed at home and watched another display from my apartment :D

Wow, that's an impressive wedding! It certainly looks like a day everyone will never forget. Congratulations :)

Was it an arranged wedding or did you pick her yourself?
