Hi guys, i dont normally use these forums but you have been reffered from a friend. he told me he gets the best advice from here so i thought i'd give it a whirl.

The following is the build specs i have set out for and are holding to buy. I would just like an outsider opinion on this build please.

I plan for this build to be the best and as future-proof as possible. It will be used for a whole array of things including high end gaming and video editing and much much more...

All comments and advice will be noted. Thank you in advance.

Oh i almost forgot to say i have the pioneer 60" kuro HDTV and buying a new projector to pull down infront for movie purposes really. The pioneer res. 1920 x 1080.

I also have a really high end speaker package and my new 7.1 cambridge amp is on the way which supports both HDMI and toslink.

Like i said before thanks in advance guys

Have a nice day

You actually got the cash to blow on that lot, or are you just dreaming?

My lowly i7 920 is sitting stable @ 3.6 24/7 on air, at 90-100% load. I'm not trying for maximum clock either. The 965 is a waste of money - unless your intention is to spend money regardless.

Look i dont want to sound ott but i had made my first half million by 18yo. so yes i have the money but thats not the point. the point is i want the best. and also isnt the 920 multiplier restricted? i really wanna overclock and set the mark.

All i am asking for is some opinions on this, i get a real buzz of having the best and building my own computers.

i would appreciate the advice.

Also i hope that i am not breaching any of the forum rules.

didnt we have one like this a while ago and it turned out to to true !

lets not jump the boat and let it carry on.

we had a £7500 build on here not long ago and a lot of people didnt believe it was for real but it did turn out to be real.
some people are very quick to jump on other people if they disbelieve there opening post.

oh ok. I just took it the wrong way i thought that you were being sarcastic.

My mistake!

I would love to get your opinion on this build if you have one please.

im not very up to date with all the hardware changes so im not going to say anything and protect myself and you...lol.

i get by with my little knowledge and have a good pc myself but if your spending that kind of money then im sure it will be fine.

ok man thanks anyways.

at least your honest lol

That's.. incredible. I almost fell off the bed when I saw the x5 next to the HDD model. 7.5 TB! I'm not sure anyone could fault you really - if you in all honesty have the cash to blow on something like this, then you've pretty much got the best desktop PC parts :D. Still, even if you had infinite money, the 965 is sod loads more than the 940.

If you don't mind me asking, how on earth did you make £500K by age 18? I'm a uni student and several grand in debt..

This = £8,712.12
+ Custom Watercooling = ?
Maybe add a SATA controller if it'll fit on the mobo for some high-capacity storage drives in a fast RAID 0 Array.

Fans are for the optional fan slots in the case.
Oh, and get OcUK to build it for you!

EDIT: It looks like the Sound card may not fit with the SLI config, so look into getting a high-quality external firewire audio interface!
Despite being a very cheap model, I have the Edirol FA-66 and its great to me.
Look at the RME Fireface series for something in your budget.

EDIT AGAIN: It looks like the idea of adding a SATA controller may not work for the same reasons the Soundcard won't.
Look into getting a High-capacity storage server.
I saw someone post a VIA model on these forums earlier!
Check the Hard Drives section of the forums.
I'm sure you can get a much better one, but just so you know the kind of thing to look for!

Maybe something like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ology Disk Station DS-508 5-Bay NAS Enclosure
With five of these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp... 1.5TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31500341AS)

Maybe you could also get one of these for a mere €2,425 also.

Nothing is ever 'future proof', whatever you buy today will be out of date in 6 months time, in a year it will be Old Hat. In 3 years it will be worth about £500 and struggling to run games.

Mechanical hard drives will be superceded in top machines - relegated to storage and replaced by SSDs for working drives. There will be new GFX cards out soon (there always are but we're due the next round from ATi soon.

OK, you want to spend this sort of money? You not really sure what you're doing? My best advice is to talk to OcUK directly to choose the parts and get them to build it for you. The labour costs for them to build it are minimal compared to the cost of buying the components. They will do it right. Think about it.

re

get the 920 and build it yourself....100% time and commitment goes into it when its built yourself obviously :)

if you've got THAT much money to splurge why get a ******* **** case when you can get a much much better one for the same (or a touch higher) price.

go for a v2000 or that new ATC for goodness sake, not an awful thermaltack (believe me, i've had 2 Tts (soprano and armour LCS), they're CRAP!)

This is my opion on what you should do:

Get the Asus P6T Deluxe "OC Palm Edition" Intel X58 mobo instead, as the PCI-e 1x slot is above the PCI-e 16x (graphics card) slots. That way you can buy a PCI-e 1x sound card so that your not dependent on on-board sound.

Like the previous poster said, get a better case. Bigger the better IMO, ie CoolerMaster Stacker, Lian Li Full Tower etc. You WILL need a case this big if you want 5+ HDD's in it.

This one really is a personal preference, I would not get 5 SSD HDD's in raid. 1) its overkill 2) Its a job to get them all in your case and get power to them

I have to agree with the case, with a budget like yours go for something like silverstone or zalman, both do high end cases and offer better quality than thermaltake.

Also take a look at solid state hard drives, especially intel, they are the fastest money can buy, get one for the OS and a couple of 1tb hard drives for everything else.

Maybe take a look at the gtx295, get 2 of them instead of the ATi 4870x2, reviews are showing the nvidia cards doing well and will onl get better with updates and new drivers. Other than that the spec looks good, I've only ever dreamt of spending this sort of money on a PC.

If you speak to the guys at OCUK, I'm sure they can help you pick a high end machine. They posted up the photos showing the £7500 build they did for someone else and it did look impressive, as were the benchmark results.
