Get rid of That Crap!!...

Well its been on now since 2:30 when I got it through the door!... its very quiet... not too hot!.. even when transferring loads of files (Music and Video) over wi-fi...

its now playing some heavy metal in Winamp and the sound is awsome!.. I think the dedicated Sub-Woofer in the base is helping that!... not had a chance to get the Blu-Ray going yet!... and my DVB reception is crap in the Study!... but I've got tomorrow to have a longer Play!!

Stay Tuned!!

Simp :)

I'll put a 'My Desktop' in the 'My Desktop' thread when I'm finished fettling!!...

I'm back from Christmas with the 'rents... now for a play with this beast!!!...

Heres the system:

And my Current 1080p Desktop:
Desk1080.jpg

(I've actally got it extended onto my 720p HDTV and it looks Spanking on there too!!)

I watched Wall-e in Blu-ray the other day on it at 1080p and it looked Fantastic (my face was only about 2 feet from the screen).. i now need a HDMI amp to get the fullHD Sound out of this!!!... listening on Headphones is great but nowt beats 5.1/7.1 sound!!..

the track pad is centered to the normal keyboard, because of the size theres a neumeric keypad like a normal desktop keyboard!..

I looked at the Dell laptops, and decided on the HP as it had the 64bit Flavor of Vista so it uses all of the 4Gb memory!..

I think theres about 6 screws in the bottom covering the hard drive.. then its a SATA drive...

The HP bods will probly know more!!

I bought it 'in-store' but the sale's bod had to do it on their website (its a web exclusive) they gave me the Office Disc there in the shop.. :)

Might well be... but you try getting one!!.. :p

I've not seen one 'In Stock' on any website for less than I paid!!... there was one site that had a free Printer and were selling it all for £900 and they had 1 in stock!...

I don't really care about £80quid i could phone em up and say "Oi its within 14 Days of Purchase!!.. can I have the Difference in Reddies??" (I've done that before!!!.. i got office Free (when I shouldn't really have!! :D ) plus I have the laptop here... in front of me... and I'm typing on it now!!..

Im gonna shop around to see if anyone will price match this .

atm ive only seen it around for 850-950 quid.

Good luck finding stock!!.. its very poplier!!.. even the 18.4" screened version is out of stock in most places!!.. and thats £200 more!!..

It comes with surprisingly little crap installed!!.. all I had to get rid of was that bloody awful Symantec Crap!.. and put Avast on in its place!!..

I'm looking at a dock for it now and an external HD to boost the storage! (Credit Crunch!!.. What Credit Crunch!!)

There's summut like 6 screws in the bottom on the hard drive cover.. its just a standard SATA drive.. so whip it out... slap it in (ooo matron!!).. I've not got the balls to even undo the screws to look let alone whip it out!.. (there I go again!! lol)...

Someone on here who like fettling might know!!...

Yep.. I think I saw an independent test get about 2 hours 10 minutes out of it!.. but HP say between 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 30ish...

I've not tried it yet t see.. I always run it on Power!.

You wanna see the HDX18 then!!... Thats HAWOOOOOOGE!!!...

I nearly got the 18 instead of the 16.. but couldn't justify the extra £200 for 2.4 inches of screen and 180Gb of extra storage (its got 2x 250Gb drives on the HDX18)..

I'm quite happy with my 16" 1080p screen and 320Gb of storage!.. I've about 130Gb left (lots of Music, Photos and Video!!).. if it starts getting too low I'll get an external drive and shift some stuff over!!..

Oooooo.. Let us know how it goes!!.. plus let us know if there is a spare drive bay in there!!.. as the HDX18 (as I said above) had 2x250Gb SATA drives and its not really that much bigger!!..

I cude not get that model so i have got the HDX16-1010EA and i love it. :)

I've no idea what the difference between the 1005EA and the 1010EA is..

I looked into it when I was deciding which to buy (I was looking at the HDX18 at that time!!) but still can't see what's different!!..

Its a Cooooool Laptop anyway!!

The HDX models only come in 16" and 18.4" flavours!... but there are 15" and 17" laptops from HP that are just as nice... they are a little less specced (no TV, 32bit Vista etc..) and they don't have the 'Pin Striping'... but they're still spanking machines!!!
