I decided it was time for me and the misses to get some breakdown cover, it's about time we had peace of mind if we ever broke down.
So I'm checking over RAC and AA and I noticed they both offer to let you join if you've just broken down however they charge you a small supplement and don't allow you any discounts currently available.
They are both coming in at around the £100 mark for recovery so surely it would be better for us to just keep a copy of the telephone numbers in our cars and join and pay a little extra if we ever need them.
If we ever broke down near home I'd just organise with a mate to tow me somewhere anyway.
Even if it cost me an extra £100, I'd still have to breakdown every other year to break even.
It'd be like not having car insurance and after you've had an accident been able to the insure you car for a bit extra.
What do you reckon?

I went with www.rescuemycar.com which with quidco cashback worked out pretty cheap for personal cover and nationwide recovery. I could have added my gf but she only drives locally so if she breaks down I can drive down and swap cars with her and get hers recovered on my cover.

Your right though, full cover through the AA or RAC is hard to justify.
