My cat was old anyway, pushing 22 years and talk has been lately about oh maybe we should take it to the vet help it on its way.

It wasn't really ill but a bit bumpy and slippy had a habit of falling off things, anyway I just went to get a drink and noticed it wasn't in its little box as usual, then this is where it gets odd.

The poor little **** had slipped off the kitchen work surface, i can only assume, and landed in the half open half filled dishwasher and broke its tiny little back or something.

Anyway its nealry 2am, i thought about it, no point calling a vet, its going to die:( I made it comfortable on a cushion, at least in my mind, and stroked it a bit to say good bye. 10 mins later RIP Motley.

I reckon it must have overheard us talking about the vets earlier in the day and committed suicide ;) .

I will miss the little bugger, my ceiling cat of 22 years, :(:(Funeral will be held in my back garden at midday, only close friends and family invited :D

So Dont be too sad when a family pet passes on, just remember the happier times, life will go on. I probably cry in the morning porr little thing

Oh no, i'm really sorry for your loss :(
But 22 years is an amazing achievement for a cat.
I lost one of my cats a month ago, so I feel your loss.

Not nice at all mate, especially after all those years! I know what you're feeling as I lost my cat, Parker, of 18 years last December when his kidney's failed. You have my sympathies!

22 Years!? Bloody hell now that's a good innings for a moggy!

I know how it feels, almost two years ago I lost two cats both around 13-14 within a few months of each other. One just wandered off one day and never came back and the other died of a heart attack. :(

22 years is a fantastic lifespan for a cat, I live quite close to a main road and unfortunately none of my cats lasted very long. However I have a miniature longhaired dachshund now and he's about 7. Sorry to hear about your cat, but it's older than I am so you must have plenty of nice memories :)

:(

Really sorry to hear about Motley. 22 years old though? Blimey! I hope my cats last as long...

22 years is amazing for a cat.

We've (well my parents now...) have got a cat that is just over 19 years now. We got it when I was in infant school and while it's still going "strong", it's losing its teeth and isn't exactly full of pep any more. I keep expecting to get a phone call about it one day, have for the past few years, but it never comes!.

Glad you could be with it as it went... 22 years is a good run.

Sorry to hear that :( R.I.P :(

Also, make sure that the funeral is kept a secret between those who attend as its actually against the law to bury pets in your own garden now. So dont go around telling people that dont need to know. We were going to do the same with our dog last week but the vet wouldn't let us take him home after he was put to sleep.
