Here are some photos of my cat Joey.

I tried to get it to get his face more blur and his feet not just to see what it would be like.

Have to say I like the way they turn out

Not a bad effort but I'd recommend trying without the flash - it's created quite harsh shadows. In some photos the shadow of the lens in front of the flash is quite distracting and the paws look like they are nearly blown out whereas your cat is a bit under exposed. Try just using ambient light, and if it's still too dark then try positioning a lamp or 2 near by which won't be as harsh as the on board flash.

Edit: Also if you are trying to get your cats face to be out of focus you probabaly want to use the widest aperture available, your photos were shot at f/6.8, I believe that at the wide end, your lens should open up to f/3.5 which will give more bokeh :)

Thank you,

When I did not use flash it was very dark so I did have to use it, did not rely think about using a lamp tbh lol

I meant buy one. It's a must have. I got a couple of mini ones, for shots like the one you just took, they're cheap to buy.

Obviously tripods can cost a lot when needed, but to get you started (as you use a light bridge camera) maybe just get a non-branded tripod?

Oh read it wrong was thinking you said "Got a tripod?"

Okey I am going to soon, all ready sent for for 2GB SD card and 46mm Polarizer for Fujifilm FinePix S5700 S5800 S700

Getting more things as time go buy.
You got any ideas on some I can use?

I recently(been a few weeks) got a gorillapod slr for my canon eos 300d(£18.95 from my asda, thats cheaper than online :) ), not really used it apart for a few test shots. already thinking about a full size tripod :)

think you can get away with the original(depends how heavy your camera is), its not tall but you can wrap the legs around a tree branch, fence, chair etc so the height shouldn't be too much of an issue.
