My CPU has unoverclocked itself!

This is very odd. I bought an Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle from OCUK back in October last year. I know it was overclocked and running at the 4GHz speed as I ran a speed test when I got it.

But for some reason, it is now running at the 2.8 GHz stock speed! Why would it do that? I have not changed any settings, and I have not upgraded my bios. I don't really know much about OC'ing which was why I bought the bundle in the first place. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thank you.

The OC may have failed on boot (for whatever reason) and the BIOS has reset itself to defaults.

Go into the BIOS and find your profile - probably saved under the name 'OcUK profile' or similar. Load the profile and then save and exit.

I would then monitor temps with prime 95 for a few hours (also to test stability) and perhaps run memtest over night.

If it passes the above tests and doesn't revert back to stock speeds or BSOD with everyday usage over the next week or so then it's hopefully not got a problem.
