Hey guys

Nice easy question for you.

I got my new bits of kit the other day and im planning to set it all up tomorrow, i got my self 2 Radeon Sapphire 2gb 6950s to run in crossfire. The only thing im worried about it the spacing between the back of the card on the bottom and the fan side of the card on the top, there is only a 3 - 4mm gap between the two when iv got them in my PCIE slot 1 & 2, i do have a 3rd PCIE slot on my mobo would it be better/viable to move the bottom one down to that instead to get better air to the top card or will they be fine as they are and not give me cooling issues ?

Thanks

I would Use the 2nd slot as this would mean both cards run at dual 16x, I have run crossfire 5850 and SLI 580 on that board and not had any major temp issues.

I've had a quick look at the motherboard manual.

If you use the top blue slot and the bottom orange slot the cards will run at x16 and x8 which isn't a problem.

However, the bottom graphics card will probably block a lot of the connectors along the bottom edge of the motherboard and you'll need a long Crossfire connector to reach between the cards.

I think you'll just have to try it and see.

No doubt the top card will run hotter if the cards are close together. You'll have to monitor temperatures to see if it's getting too hot.
