My CTR: First Year of Ownership...

Having seen their work on another forum I wouldn't leave anything more complex than a skateboard to TDI.

I'm genuinely surprised how much its gone wrong. I thought Hondas and jap stuff in general NEVER went broke.

I just hope year two of ownership goes a little smoother- I can't think of much else that can go wrong!

Yeah that's kiss of death, before I jumped under my car this afternoon to test fit some bits I said "what can go wrong this time?" I now have a lump on my head and a large cut to boot, a broken socket and interesting shaped breaker bar

Great post, I was looking into selling my 2.5 X-type for a Type R just a couple of weeks ago.

I think you've had a lot of bad luck, could you have bought a poor example in the first place or did everything look o.k? Their normally very sound cars.

From the 2/3 Ive test drove in the past they've always impressed me. Stick with it, for the money you cant get much better ;)

Not had a single hiccup, but i HATE the community, civic-ep2.co.uk is full of annoying "innit"'ers who seem to feel they bought an EP2 to dress it up as a Type-R, does my nut in, its like people shoving socks down thier boxers to cover up 2 inches of terror!

I feel your pain, I cannot go anywhere near civic forums (CSC is dreadful).

Instead somehow I managed up on a toyota forum... lol

Had my 02 plate for 3 years and the only money spent has been services, pads, tyres.

The car has not missed a beat in 3 years and its only ever been driven hard. tbh I'm totally bored of it and want something new... but its been so good to me I just can't bring myself to put it up for sale

Everything looked spot on. I almost missed buying the car- I'd driven over 70 miles to arrive at the garage sans CTR. I was not happy! I spoke to the owner and he told me it was out on test, much to my relief! A spikey-haired lad appeared about 5 minutes later, and tried desperately to get the garage to straight swap his slightly more £££ gen 7 Celica. They weren't having any of it (especially since we promised a straight cash purchase the next week if all was OK:D)! I overheard the guy that just tested it saying it was the best example he'd driven.

I took it for a spin around some country lanes at breakneck speed, and couldn't fault it.

There were no obvious problems with the car at all before I bought it, none major enough to be even slightly apparent at the time.

The first CTR i had was exchanged under the 30 day exchange plan from honda there was so much went wrong with it!

The second one was in the dealers for 3 weeks with the same alarm problem! randomly going off at all times of the day and night. They eventually replaced the alarm system in its entirety!

The alarm problem isnt uncommon.
