I'm thinking about a fan in the centre above the HDD chamber and keeping the lower one in also. Just need to decide on a fan.

Mine are what I would consider silent at over a metre away when running at 12v, completely silent with my ear next to it at 7v.

Just google '7v mod' and you'll find a guide easily enough.

Just got to check the minimum start up voltage for the fan. but on't see why not...

actually it's the other way round, the VGA fan blows hot air from the CPU onto the vga cooler, air is not that hot to be honest..., fan would not fit other way round, blades would get caught...
