My desk is tiny

Ok, now I understand what you were saying...yes your desk IS tiny, and yes there IS a big post in the way :)

I'd be more worried about your tiny monitor though...it's so small I can't even see it! ;)

Seriously though, I'd maybe consider placing a larger piece of wood on top of the desk, i.e extending it, as that looks pretty damn uncomfortable as it is now. Could that be an option?

OK, scrap that idea...I've just noticed that the desk hits the corner.

Hmmmm.

i might just get a wolfking warrior and use that for gaming but i dont know how good these gaming keypads are. Do you think that post is that much of an obstacle maybe i can just reach round it and still use the mouse

I've never used a gamepad, so I couldn't tell you if they're any good or not. Have you seen the Belkin/Razer one by the way? It's called the Belkin Nostromo n52te SpeedPad (might be worth a look).

Just curious, but how long is the keyboard you have now as I'm just thinking that a more compact keyboard would give you some extra room to move your mouse?
I'm using a standard Logitech Dinovo (diNovo Cordless Desktop for Notebooks) and it's really nice and compact (39cm) and very comfortable to use for gaming and general use.
Obviously I'm using a different mouse with it though :)

Here's a pic of the keyboard I use, and also the Belkin Nostromo:

If I had to reach around a post everytime I wanted to use my mouse I'd end up taking an axe to it (the post that is, and probably the desk too!) :)

A more compact keyboard or a gamepad are the only ideas I can think of I'm afraid.

Looking at your pics I think the best thing to do would be is to get a peice of melamine from B&Q and cut it to the same depth as your desk but make it a bit wider and fix it to the top of your desk. It might overhang on the left hand side by 6" or so but looking at your pics i can't see that would be a problem.

As for the post, you will have to cut the melamine (wood) to fit the post as well but i can't see the post being a hindrance as i have a wall on either side of me with a space of 85cm's for my Saitek Eclipse and MX518 and i'm perfectly comfortable

In the picture below is what i've managed to fit in with a width of 85cm's

That's a 24" monitor and the surface of my desk is perfect, no need for a mouse mat :)

i'll definately give the belkin a look think its designed by razer but i do believe the wolfking might be worth a shout if ofcourse the post doesnt make no porblme the my gaming then ofcourse there no issue but thanks for all your ideas and welcome anymore :)
heres a pic of the wolfking

Have a look at the Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman. It is a trackball rather than a mouse. So as the unit itself does not move it may solve you space issue.

I use a Deathadder myself (great mouse!)

If I were you I'd seriously consider just getting a shorter, more compact, keyboard as the one you have looks like it takes up a lot of desk space (it looks quite long). Am I right in saying it's a Saitek Eclipse II?

What I like about my keyboard is the fact that the numbered section of the board is totally seperate (which cuts down on length) and it can be used as a remote for your music, a calculator etc.

Anyway, whatever you decide to do...I hope it works out for you :)

This, simply this. looks nice and simple and there is still enough room to game imo. though as other people have mentions, i would probably upgrade to a better keyboard :P

Pumaz that lil space you have there looks really nice and cosy.... like a little gaming cocoon lol

Thanks, I like it :)

It's just a cubby hole at the end of our bedroom thats just big enough for my PC, Comfy chair and behind me there's some shelving with a portable TV, Dreamcast, PS2, Saturn, old XBOX, Alu Macbook and Acer One. And best of all there's a door so i can shut myself away in my little bit of gaming heaven while the Mrs sleeps!

EpicCarnage - What i was trying to say is, if you add a bigger top to you desk then you could fit everything on. I was using my setup as an example of what you could fit on with a width of 85cm's. By the looks of your desk it would mean a 6 - 8" overhang on the left hand side. And i couldn't see anything in you pics that would prevent you from having a bigger top on your desk.

Hope I made myself clear :)

Hmm what did you type into google and on what page was it cos im not having any look but if you have found one i will love you
