Just getting my lot set up again after 3 years under a bed whilst the house was "refurbed". Used to play a few clubs in Notts back in 2000/2001. Really cant wait to get them set up again although I doubt i'd venture back into clubland, would be interested in looking at the traktor DJ stuff when ive got some cash spare.

current set up is 2 x Technic SL1210s, Pioneer DJM500 Mixer (still the best imho) and 1 x CDJ500 (MK1).

Id love a pair of cdjs. but i would have a fancy A&H mixer if money wasnt an issue.

Id also be running traktor on a laptop with controllers and stuff.

if only! :)

Ah cool, I was hoping a thread like this would come up.

My sister bought her boyfriend 2 x SL1210's.
She wants to know what mixer is good to get.

I had a look around and lots of people recommend the Vestax PCV 275 as a good beginner / mid range mixer.
This can be had for around £100 on the net, worth it?

unfortunately mine is sold now but was straight 1210's with original japanese Vestax PMC05 with penny and giles xfader to make it a bit sharper

I've just got a couple of controllers running traktor and ableton on my laptop at the mo with 1 deck on the floor with an old mixer. I really need a desk as its not ideal using a controller on your lap during a traktor session.

You have the exact same setup as my friend :) all that going into some KAM Z 1504 MKII Speakers & KAM Amp. I'll get a picture of the setup properly when I go down next, all the ones I've got have random people standing in front of them >_<

I think those are Technics 1210's under the Pioneer CDj's? Exactly the same if so :)

I will upload some of my mixes I mix to funky house/electro iny my house but in clubs i do everything trance, hard house, old skool but I do prefer to house and electro stuff myself!
ill be getting the deck stand too, £160 i think it is 2 stands for cdjs at the top and the 1210's and 600 fit flush!

Yamahahahahaha, if you are limiting yourself to that budget and want all the whistles and bells the behringer DXJ700 is a copy of the Pioneer DJM500. The build quality is not the best but for bedroom mixing it would do fine. whybuynew have them at £90. If all goes well, sell on the auction site when the upgrade to and Allen&Heath or a Pioneer DJM500 or 600 is called for.

Used to have 2 CDJ1000's, DJM600, EFX500 a few years ago but sold them now, didn't have the time to play :( Still got the EFX though, keep meaning to ebay it..

So what are CDj's like to use then compared to SL1210's?

the platter on the top can be manipulated exactly like a vinyl. It doesnt spin, but if you drag it back slowly it will briefly pitch down the record in the same way it does on a 1210 when you use your finger on the edge, or grip the spindle.

they are fun to use and very versatile. open up lots of possibilities.

not really as fun to use as vinyl at first. but once ya get to grips with em they can be awesome
