My experience with HDMI over a network cable

I have had no end of issues with HDMI runs over approx 15-16m even using fairly heavy gauge cables. I guess they are getting noise in the floors of my house with being close to other cabling, as they unfortunately seem to degrade into sparkles and losses of sync.

In future i will always use cat5 i think, for all non local HDMI runs. If the baluns at the price the OP linked to really do work of course.

I've got a 47m run from the lounge to the master bedroom using a cheap matrix and a pair of Neet's (£35). Works perfectly (I have a RG6 run for IR). I did try the un-powered cheap versions and had issues.

S@njay is saying those £25 singles work fine?

Work is a subjective term. I could get the cheap singles to work over CCA on short enough runs of a few meters, longer than that it needed solid core UTP and wouldn't work over the full house 47m run.
