Awhile back my external hard drive which is a Samsung D3 Station died on me. It wasn't dropped or anything it just refuses to power on. There's no power light at all and I tried using a different power plug but it appears to be a no go.

It's 3TB too and filled with stuff. If there's no fix, can I just take the drive out of the caddy and use it externally via SATA?

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes you should be able to take it out but be aware that it will probably void any warranty you had on the unit as a whole. It sounds like it may just be an issue with power and not the hard drive so your solution should have no issues working.
