My family says I always look mad/unhappy... (dad/mom/sister)

I am not though, no one else has ever said anything to me, My mom says I look unapproachable. I am not unhappy or mad & honesty it annoys me when they say it. I have said I am not feeling bad, but I still hear it, I mean it has never been a everyday thing (them telling me), I just want them to leave me alone about it.

I had this once, and it turns out that because my eyes are a bit dodgy I squint a lot, which makes me look angry. I actually nearly got I trouble a school years ago because our headmaster tapped on the window glass to see what I was doing (photographing flowers) and I turned to see what was up and was squinting into the glare of the windows, which he interpreted as a glare of hatred and anger!

So I feel your pain. It's irritating when people misread you. I just find it vaguely amusing now

I used to look moody when my eyes were bad and I hadn't realised it. Get your eyes checked, you might just be squinting a bit all the time.

Could be a multitude of different things. Maybe you're lying to yourself and are extremely depressed. Maybe you're too familiar with your immediate family and don't feel it necessary to make that little extra effort to smile and make them happy once in a while. Perhaps one family member has mentioned a slight worry, maybe the very next time you saw the recipient of said information you gave them a particularly mournful looking sideways glance which solidified this analysis of your inner turmoil to them and thus started the blind alleyway of group think.

You clearly do considering that rather than speak to your family, you are posting this on a random internet forum(no pun intended).

Perhaps what they mean indirectly is that they do not see any direction in your life, and perhaps you are posting on here partly because this is true?

Are you content, have you settled for what is, rather than what could be?
