My Final build! yay or nay?

It's all good wayne was only playful banter. I respect you and some of the other guys on this forum, stulid comes to mind also. Especially those who take the time picking out components wth care and post pictures and graphs etc etc to explain their choices.

I wanted to show the OP he could save some money and redistribute it. How far he goes is his decision....i thought £100 was a nice round figure to start from.

I can argue the merits of one mobo against the other all day and you vice versa. Crosshair does tri-fire, shiny buttons for easy overclocking/core unlocking, temp probes etc etc.....it's not all about the racing car red lol Wether these features are worth the cost and if they are going to be used is for the OP to decide. Seriously jake just chill on things for a few weeks! Google and check spec and prices.

Are you ever going to use 6 monitors? have you checked that you have the adapters to connect that card to your monitor? The revised ati cards are due this quarter (october is rumoured) and prices will drop. I'd argue that ati is better as x-fire makes sense if you buy another 5870 in 1 or 2 years time when its cheap cheap (like the budgie ;p) rather than replace a 460 with a then current card once directx11 is in full swing.

You owe wayne a alcoholic beverage (or two) he's saved you some serious money and taken the time to explain how. Just remember don't buy because you're told to, do a lil research and ask yourself the hard questions....."do I really need it?" and "is it worth it?", "Can i find it cheaper?"

I wish you luck with the build i look forward to seeing what you settle on. I hope any gremlins keep out of your rig ;p

yeah your right, ill wait around for another few weeks. it was gonna be a few anyway until i assemble the hard cash :) i though id fill the gap until then by doing wot im doing, asking around the forums and getting valued info from experienced members. it seems to be paying off already and i havent even bought anything.

:):)

Tis a wise choice. You do need to take things with a pince of salt though. I take no offense to what wayne commented about my quotes.

There will be people who make poor recommendations with little evidence to back it up. I dont really spec rigs i fix them. If i think someones heading in the wrong direction i give a lil nudge and let other posters (some with more experience) bicker about what kit is best for what.

Hopefully you wont need to start a thread on "Bought this gear and it aint doing nothing!" (or words to that effect ;p) but i tend to visit these threads more than "spec me baby!" ones.

Waiting wont hurt.....well unless january comes and the VAT goes up. Im looking forward to the release of the crosshair extreme, Interested to see the performance its hybrid chip will bring as it allows ati and nvidia cards to run together.....of course its gonna be silly money though ;p

lol
i prolly wont go that way(buying the crosshair extreme).
maximum i would spend on upgrading my pc is probably around £500
yeah its not much :D
