Hey guys, just wondered if i could borrow a few minutes of each of your time.

I've posted a video on facebook comparing 2 animations that i've done, and i'd like you to answer a couple of questions about them after.

Any help would be awesome, and i promise, it doesn't take a couple of minutes! :)

Thanks in advance. Please post answers here or on youtube comments.

Questions:

Q1: Do You have any background or experience with character animation? (Yes/ No)
No
Q2: If Yes, Please explain...
n/a
Q3: Ignore everything other than the movement of the character, Focus solely on the animation only. Out of the two, which one looks more human & lifelike? ( Animation 1 / Animation 2 / Can't Tell ).
Animater 2.
Q4: Why did you choose that animation?
He seems to stumble upon falling, and moves forward. This suggests mavity to me. Apart from that, just comes across a bit more natural and his movements seem more possible.

no animation experience
I reckoned animation 2, it looked more jerky and imperfect. Anim 1 looked bouncy and damped, as if it was running on springs or rubber bands.

Q1) No.
Q2) n/a
Q3) Animation 1.
Q4) The little movement at the end once the kick had been done..Animation 2 appeared to static for the closing seconds.

1) Half life 2 modder
2) Designed multiple chars for my own personal projects
3) animation 2
4) Character animation seems more fluid due to less frames + it appears to have better physics/weight behind it.

Animation 2.
Q4: Why did you choose that animation?
The animation has more weight and for the inner circle kick, the leg moves in a more realistic hip range of motion.

Mostly the end, it seemed that the little fella ended up more leant forward from the action of doing the kick.

No, but little animation exp.

Q2: If Yes, Please explain...
More of a minor hobby (Flash)

Anim 1

Q4: Why did you choose that animation?

It looks like its trying to get some momentum before moving.. Looks like its slowing down after moving, and then steadying after slowing.. More natrual tbh.

P.S the sound quality is like torture. Be much more pleasurable with a half decent quality.

q3 anim 1
q4 the head on #2 barely moved, and #2 seems to be able to spring into the air without bending his legs much, wheras #1 seems to bend a little first to charge up the jump

they look like tekken 1 fighters :)

Im a 3D Artist but dabble in animation every so often

Animation 2

Q4: Why did you choose that animation?
It looks better by miles. Very fluid and realistic. Id go as far to say that animation 1 is keyframed and animation 2 is motion captured?

Animation 2.
Q4: Why did you choose that animation?
The physics look more realistic in animation2, it seems as if the character has weight.

Animation 2.

Animation 1 seems to shuffle along the floor, doesn't really move his feet and lower legs - perhaps like he's on ice skates?
In saying that, 2 doesn't look that natural. Very wide stance, like he's creeping up on someone and purposely displacing his weight.
That make sense?

I was the first to answer both of your videos, both times within 4 minutes of you posting... I really need to get out more.
