Nice car mate, it looks weird on those wheels, definitely crying for some BBS ;)

Go with 17's I don't think the car suits big wheels

*drool*

Gorgeous car.

The styling is very marmite and I have to say I'm in the blurgh camp. However, for the uniqueness and apparent bargain I salute you.
It wasn't a bargain, but I feel I got a good deal considering I had the bumpers repsrayed, €500 off the price and a year's warranty from BMW.
That, and it's a Belgian car which means minimal hassle for me and when it comes to sell. Any others with similar mileage (75,000km) seem to be well over €3k more..

Anyway, I've discovered that the Becker Grand Prix HU that was fitted is actually rather good as it comes with Bluetooth hands free, amongst other things.

Oh, and the engine is simply superb (unless I find out it drinks lots of oil).
It really doesn't feel particularly fast though. The needles go round but it's all rather subdued :(

€12,000

Which is a fair amount, but when you compare it to what others are going for, let alone a low mileage, one owner, FBMWSH one, it doesn't seem like such a bit deal. I just wonder what's wrong with it :p

A good pre-facelift 330Ci M Sport costs around the same, much more for an LCI. You can get TT 225s for less, but they're not as exciting.
The only other thing that caught my eye was a Maserati Ghibli.. :o
Hell, even a decent facelift R53 MCS costs more.

This thing is brilliant.
Ordered an Eisenmann so that should be on next month.

Rattles are beginning to appear, so tracing them will be fun
I think the whole dash unit is working itself free..
I commented on how solid the US-built car was, but when cornering and changing direction hard you can hear the whole dash creak and twist

I think a strut brace may be required, might sort out the tramlining too.
Any recommendations?

You are never going to sort things like the dash creaking - the Z3's were never built to a particularly great standard in the first place and this one is 9 years old. It's just something you have to learn to live with when you buy an older car.

I am well aware of this, but it's annoying nonetheless.
No funny noises at all on the test drive, but it was the same with my Lolvo.

The problem is that there's a lot of Belgian pavé around here (unsurprisingly), including a horrible stretch on the way to work, which appears to be introducing a new rattle every week :(

I can't say I get any creaking from my dash.

Behind me, yes all the time, but none from the dash.
Maybe it's the toolbox :p
The dash is odd, because it just seems like it's twisting when I take S curves quickly.

It's going to the dealer for a few things on Monday, including an Oil Service at my request (and cost).

However, it had an Inspection II in March '09 and has done all of 3,000 miles since. There are 4 green lights showing on startup, and I'm debating whether to cancel it or not.
Is it worth it, or just leave it for another year or so? I wouldn't mind fresh filters and oil, but if it's not necessary....

There is a low mileage section in your user manual. It explains that if you do under 6000km a year you must service the car every year.

So you've basically bought a car thats overdue its service by 6 months.

Good skills there, another quality BMW 'approved' used car. They should have oil serviced it months ago!

It's actually every 2 years if you do less than 10,000km pa according to the service book.

It did over 20,000km between services (slightly over 2 years between each one), and then it's done naff all since last March.
I was surprised that there are only 4 service stamps in 9 years, but I guess that's the risk you run with variable servicing..

Thats the service book for MY2003 engines and newer...

I have two service books here, one for a 2001 530i and one for a 2003 Z4. The '01 service book says annually if you do under 6000km, the 03 says 2 yearly.

It has a delivery date and stamp from 06/02/01, along with a service in August 2002, so I'm pretty sure it's not from 2003.
The Z3 3.0 isn't even listed in the table at the beginning for the delivery checks, that's how old this booklet is!
There's no 525d either, just a 525td, 525tds and a 530d..

I'll just get them to do the oil change anyway :p
