Hi so I'm new on here and this will be my first fully fledged pc build. I do know a little about building computers but never done one from the ground up. just wanted some advice on compatibility and if anyone can see any problems, here's my proposed build:
CPU

  • Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
  • Corsair H80i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
  • Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
  • Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
  • Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB Video Card
  • Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
  • Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
  • LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
SSD to come at a later date

also it's only an extra £40 more for the 4gb windforce 770 for me, surely that's a bit more future proof? feel free to shoot me down!

my original build came to a total of £1002.01 with stuff bought from various places, by overclockers prices it would be around an extra £100

edit:

will be running a dual monitor set up

it would cost me 289 for the windforce 770 4gb, surely 4gb is better than 2gb for a dual monitor set up? again feel free to shoot me down if i'm wrong :)

Would you not save a lot of hassle by putting windows onto an SSD first as it will boot quicker and then adding SATA drives as you need them?

Probably yeah, boot speed has never really bothered me though, was eventually going to put one in and just store game launchers on it!

If you want to play on more then 1 display then I think you need a bit more grunt then the 770. I would personally go with something like this, I feel the Mobo is well over priced and the budget is better used else where. Went for a goldish theme, got to it in a SSD and a 290 which should be a lot better.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC WindForce 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-R929OC-4GD) £367.99
1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £169.99
1 x Asus Z87M-PLUS Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £106.99
1 x Corsair Obsidian 350D Windowed Micro ATX Case - Black (CC-9011029-WW) £94.99

Fallen,

Maybe swap the motherboard out for this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Z87M Gaming Series Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £119.99
Total : £129.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

It will allow Xfire later.. But as you say still a bit on the steep side..

The 350D is a good case for Xfire too, so just up the PSU a bit. :D

I had a look at that, is a board I like but then I would need too spec a bigger PSU too, if the OP doesn't mind spending a bit more I don't see an issue with it.

that is a nice build but my budget tops out around £1000, i won't be using both monitors for gaming, just the one with a second for other stuff. what makes the other motherboards better than the g1 sniper?
