Hey All,

Ive just finished my first build which consists off:

Motherboard - Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Intel Z87
Processor - Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz
RAM - Corsair 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 1866MHz Dimm Vengeance Memory
GPU - Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4096MB GDDR5
PSU - OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply
Water Cooler - Corsair Hydro H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Case - CiT Vantage Type-R Gaming Case

The issue im having atm is the Processor is still getting far too hot (Hitting 80 under full load) so im considering getting a new case and new water cooling, any ideas ? :)
 
80 isn't so crazy! You can try lots of other things first, different fan combinations and orientations, thermal paste and re-seating the heatsink, then consider moving up to an AIO water cooler or high end heatsink. Some times it can take the thermal paste a few hundred hours of cpu heat to bed it in properly, and then you should start to see some lower temps (2-3 degrees perhaps).

EDIT: Glossed over the fact you already have an H80, in this case I would check that the paste has been applied correctly, and the cooler has the right tension on top of the CPU. Is the rad getting hot??
 
That is high temps.

Im pretty sure I mentioned on the previous thread that case is a bad idea due to poor airflow/build quality.. Pair that with a super hot 290 and the case will be a sauna..

You should invest in a better case.
 
What`s your budget?
How many chassis fans do you have installed? Decent air flow require air being sucked in as well as being sucked out.

Is that 80c at stock speeds? What sort of temps is your 290 getting?
 
The Max i would want to spend on a case is probably about £200
I have 2 of the original chassis fans connected as i had to remove 1 to add the water cooler and another because the side of it wouldnt fit on with it there

No thats not getting hot at all, its blowing out cold air :) , how much thermal paste should i have applied as i only put a little bit on

80 degrees at stock speeds is high temps considering the fact you are using a H80 as a CPU cooler.. it suggests your airflow is not working well so try and take of the side panel to see if that lowers the temps. If it does than you may need a better case or more fans.

Check the pump`s power lead is properly plugged in. You can also put your hand on the pump and you should feel it vibrating, if it is working.
 
i just took a look at the rad and its a bit damaged, a few of the metal is a bit bent, ive removed the pannel and have been running prime 95 for the last 40 minutes so far highest temp reached is 49-55 under full load, is that good?

You shouldn't really need to stress test for that long. It does sound like you have a massive airflow problem..
