Hi all

Right I woke up this morning & looked at my money & thought sod it I am going to buy something!

So I went overclockers & got this lot MMMmmmm =

Zalman Reserator1 v2 Fanless Water Cooling System
& with 2 Litres of Feser One UV Reactive Coolant (Blue)

So after a hour of building it & installing it with 30 min’s of leak testing, it was on !!

I am only cooling the cpu as the Zalman ZM-GWB8800 Ultra/GTX VGA Water Block is some £54 i can not spare at the mo..... .

so the temps are looking better thank god as I would say they have dropped about 7c to 8c less.

I am using AS5 so i have to wait about 180 hours for that to wear in i am told.
Plus I am thinking what to do with the 4x 120mm side fans on the cm 830 stacker? So I keep them on full (1200rpm) or not use them ?

Well I am thinking i might in a few days try some more over clocking & see what happens..... .
I am not thinking this water kit will do god like things but it must help a bit.
also i have the cooler wired in to my UPS as if the mains goes off the cooler would go off but the pc would be left on ! Not a good idea I think.

But is there any way I can start the cooler with the pc, Instead of a switch?

Any idea folks what might help me.

well how is it powered? if it runs off the mains it might be a lil tricky. If it runs of the PSU constantly leave it on till the PC is turned off.

i was thinking about getting the same w/c kit like.

it as a 2 core main lead, what i have plugged in to my UPS just in case the mains goes off. but i would like it some how maybe wired up to my pc PSU ?.

any ideas ?.

my temps are idle 32c load 53c room at 24c feeling warm in here... are they ok ? > ?

well if you've just installed it, your temps wont be reliable cos the heat compound needs to settle. your looking about a week when you can have reliable temp read outs.
What were the temp read out before?

As for connecting something like that up to the PSU im not sure, think you might have to manufacture something up.

cheers mate i thought it may be a few 100 hours or so of use to get more stable etc... .

also my temps was about 37 idle & 57+ load before this kit.

in a cooler room say about 22c or so. but these nights are getting hotter...... .

yerr im having problems with my temps. I love it when its winter, with fans i can get my CPU down to 24, i havent tried with my new GPU:p im such a nerd.

As for manufacturing the w/c up to the PSU, think you need to see how many watts the w/c needs and see what the connectors it has. But to be fair, i wouldnt mind switching it on, though i suppose if you forgot to at one point........ hmm.

You mention buying two litres of coolant. Is the amount the £150 kit come with not enough? I'm teetering on the verge of ordering one of these myself.

Dose the Res1v2 not come with a molex lead like the Res2?
Mine is powered separatly via a wall plug but turns on/off with the pc (via molex connector)

Off to check Zalman site, as can't beleive the Res1 wouldn't have this feature.

It dosen't :( on the flip side with the on/off separate you can leave/start your loop running for 10-20 extra seconds to stop shutdown/start up heat stress of the chip.

i cant see anything on the zalman site about it being connected with molex for each models.

You might find this a ueful suggestion. Onceclick Intelliplug.
I've been using a Zalman Resestorator v1.2 with it for several years now. I like the quiet and the cooling of the Zalman. I'm running a [email protected] (for now - 3.6?), Abit IX QuadGT mobo 4gbCorsair ram and 3850 Pro (o'cd) (on the loop).
The oneclick adaptor means everything is given power when I turn the pc on.
If you've not seen them, you plug the computer into the master socket on the gang and everything else into the subsequent sockets. When I turn on the computer, the powergang detects this and turn on the power to the other components. So the Zalman, monitor, printer, speakers switch on with pressing the pc's power button. Well worth it if you ask me. Means when I turn off the pc, everything else stops too. Saves power (=£££) how many times have you left the monitor on or speakers?
I don't think OCUK stock them, (but as there is the no competators) but google oneclick. It's called inteliplug or intellipannel.
Can't recommend enough!

Regards Chris

Love my Res2 - WJA96 may be able to give you an alturnative to tophee's - but frankly thoses Intelliplug are a winner for many reasons

Tophee - Oc'ed quad and 3850 on the loop - nice :D
Got my E6600, NB, Raptor and 8500gt on mine

I'm running external pumps so they come on and off with the PC but I used to just leave mine running all time. The pump takes up almost no power at all and it's silent, so I just left it running.

I'm still upset by learning that I need to shell out on an additional £50 of coolant. At first I was molified by the thought of this new free postage + I was going to buy 4x of the £6 stuff ocuk sell (using different liquid as per original poster). But Zalman rekon this:
The Reserator V2 must be used with the provided G200 coolant. The use of other coolants with the Reserator V2 can cause damage to the Reserator V2 unit, as well as the CPU and VGA jackets.
Now I cant make my mind up. Something in me just snaps at the thought of paying double for branded distilled water :(

I'm really confused by your statement as a bottle of G200 is £10 tops and you just top it up with deionised water. Didn't you get a bottle with the cooler?

has any one ever put anything else in other than whats recommeneded?

Of course they have. I bought all my Reserators 2nd hand and I started off using premixed antifreeze from Halfords. You can
use Feser if you want, but Zalman G200 diluted down with deionized water is by far the cheapest option.
