My First Crash

when, i bought the bike, it was all ready re resticted, so they wasnt much i could do. and the insurance know, because i told them just to be on the safe side, of things.

Also, it does more then 50mph but i wasnt gonna break the speedlimit, but at the time of the crash, they was no one around til like 10 mins later the crash, but even still only 1 person asked how i was ,every 1 just drove past

Edit; i wasnt driving like a idiot i was just riding " normal " theres a time and place for that, and i don't do it on roads, and deffo not country roads.

which begs the question... how did you manage to completely lose the back end down a ditch going round a corner at 50?

They wouldn't give you insurance if they knew.

You don't have a license for that bike. just making you aware as my bike wasn't learner legal either.

Well that was rather silly wasn't it :p

The CBT test is seriously shocking, don't you even get told the basics?

it wasnt silly at all, because i got around the corner fine, but this corner was so sharp, you couldnt see around it, but i was breaking before and still breaking around it just to be sure, they was no cars around, so it was alright, i say it was like 10 meters away from the corner where i crashed, but the road wasnt flat, it was going down closer to the bank, and my ped followed it, i should have taken pictures of the road, aswell. but i think i was in more shock that my ped flipped over me.

So basically you told your insurance company you were riding a bike you are not legally allowed too?

I smell something in here.

seriously, if you think that's ok, never touch a bike again.

Breaking in a corner = straight line.

doesn't matter how sharp the corner is, you never brake in a corner ever.

According to the government it is resticted to 31mph.

Mopeds.

Therefore he isn't legally allowed to ride a derestricted bike at 16.

your quote just shows that his bike classed as a bike and not a moped

spoilt mates had 50cc motorbikes when they where 16 and never had any trouble with insurance/police/anyone else

you just have to stay under 50cc and under so many BHP ( 13 rings a bell )

anything under 50cc and top speed of 30mph is classed as a moped know, whether it be a scrambler, sports bike or moped.

yeah i know , im just trying to say that what the OP did isnt illegal because it can do more than 30mph ,

its just illegal because its been de restricted and has more than the allowed BHP

anyway i still call bull **** that it does more than 50

YES it is, a cbt at 16 lets you ride a 50cc or less and that cannot exceed 30mph. As for bhp I don't now the limit as I've never seen it stated.

straight of the dvla website

Mopeds with an engine capacity not exceeding 50cc and a maximum design speed not exceeding 50km/h P(category) 16(age)

i have to agree with all the comments...

you do not have the expereience to ride a motorcycle at thoughs speeds...
if you did you would know you have the most grip for breaking when up right tilting gives less grip and breaking and accelerating is just crying out to be thrown off.

i'm glad you're ok but as i live in the East end of london i see way to many of these mopeds de-restricted shooting around town in groups over taking cars on both sides etc...

In all honestly you owuld be better off not riding untill you have a full car licence and have some road expereience.

it's not often they check, but if they do check then you can be held reliable. Although 3rd partys will still be paid. They can, although rarely claim it back of you.

what the hell do they teach you at the cbt these days. It's not new news it's always been under 50cc and 30mph, untill your 17. They should also teach you about not breaking in corners.

Had a guy on a scooter just now up my chuff along some A roads, looked quite comfortable keeping up at 60mph, and was only wearing shorts and t shirt (and helmet) !
