My first HDR image.

I must admit I'm more of a fan of the 'in your face' HDR, if done well...

Here are some of mine:

Not to everyone's taste I know but I like it and that's what counts ;-)

Do i need to take 3photos of the same scene?

3 shots with different exposure settings?

Yup 3 shots of the same scene (tripod necessary obviously)
Take a shot at -2 AV, 0 AV, +2 AV and thats all you need.
:)

dont you mean EV as altering the AV will change depth of field?

You dont have to use three seperate exposures. You could also take one RAW shot and create 3 TIFF's and edit the exposure levels in PS to -2, 0, +2. Although this way doesn't always come out very well. You need the shot to be perfectly exposed really.

P.s love the shots mohain, go in-your-face hdr team! :D

Don't buy a new camera just for HDR! Only if you're serious about this hobby. You can get reasonable results from 1 JPEG you know!

ive just tryed it for the first time ever, using 1 jpeg.
original

HDR

its also my first time using photomatix so ill try out some other settings

by changing the light levels in photoshop

first open photoshop with a picture, then save it as 'original'
then press ctrl+L to open the light levels, adjust so the picture is brighter then save as '+1'
then do the same again but making the picture darker, save as '-1'

then finally just do the usual merging method in photomatix

thats how i did it anyway :)
