Here how the story goes bought my self p5k deluxe so i had to remove my water cooling and decided to lap my cpu and cpu water block as my cpu had always had 1 core 7 degrees higher temperature.

Cpu : q6600

Cpu water block : Swiftech Apogee GT Waterblock

Seen may review and photos of lapping and seen people getting mirror finish.
Mine has reflection to but it has those scratches left from wet & dry sandpaper

i used 320 / 400 / 800 / 1500 /2000 grid papers was lapping about 4 hours

here is some pictures i dont know why its not silky smooth as i used four or fife 2000 grid papers on cpu and water block maybe other people polish them or something. but will it do the job or i messed it up?

is there point like i used at least four 2000 grid on cpu and cpu water block is there like any point to put metal polish on it ?

like the guy above it will just add some unwanted stuff?

When you're finishing off with the 2000 grit lapp in one direction only ie not circular also are /did you add a few drops of water?

well i lapped in 8 shape i used water on the tissue to damp it up ad clean the coper dust of ,then i cleaned it with dry tissue then ,did it loads of times but i not used any water on paper it self.

what do have to do with the water ?

I'd say you've done enough, it's flat & thats the main point of lapping.

Assuming the the various grade papers you have are wet & dry then just add the few drops of water to the paper, helps stop the paper from clogging up and usually gets a better finish, skip the metal polish as once its shiny enough you'll slap as5 on it anyhow :)

Lapping 9/10
Photos/resizing 5/10 :p just thinking of those with less than 20"

Finish on mine is like that - a little less scratched - but not a mirror finish - and its done the job 15C lower load temps and almost 10C lower idle temps. It does take a few days tho for the temps to drop down I'm assuming its the thermal paste "curing".

well im left with one of 2000 grid papers so i try to put some water on and then lap it.
some guy said in the end you dont lap in circkles how should i do it then 1 way? or 1 way 20 strokes then turn 90 degrees and 20 strokes again ?

You're only really meant to lap in a figure of 8 when you're starting off the lapping, like to roughly flatten the metal. Once you've used the lower grades you're best going forward and backward using very little pressure. I got a really flat and reflective finish using 1000 grit as my "finishing" paper on my thermalright ultra 120 extreme using this method
