I have a E6400, Asus P5B Deluxe, Geil 2Gb 800Mhz Ram, HIS 1900XT 512Mb

I am o/c for the first time and have been stepping up througout day and have got to 3.2Gz on air using Sythe Ninja and using . Currently running CPU Burn-In and the temps are showing as 57C (CPU) and 33 (System) - taken from Asus AI Suite

Core speed 3.2, multiplier x8, bus speed 400Mhz (taken from CPU-z)

Voltages are 1.544 CPU and 2.1V for Memory the PCI-E is showing as N/A (not sure what that is) in the AI Suite

What are these temps like for my set up?

So far I have only run COH Performance test, next I will run 3D Mark 06

I don't really want to push any further and will probably lower to around 2.8Ghz but will the 6400 go any further and still retain stability?

Cheers AB

I mate

lower th cpu vcore to 1.42/ 1.45V
for 3200 mhz should be enough and so you get lower temps and less stress on the cpu :)

Coretemp and TAT both use on-die temperature sensors whereas most other programs read from the sensor on the motherboard. CT and TAT are much more accurate.

netbys advice is good. C2Ds don't need that much extra juice to run at high speeds.

Thanks for that, that was going to be an edit to my original post but you answered it for me! :) btw I just left the mobo on Auto for the vcore. Will adjust tonight to see what I get.

Ditch Asus AI and use TAT (intel thermal analysis tool) to measure the CPU temps. Their is a good chance you CPU is running a good deal warmer than what Asus AI is telling you.

OK cheers chaps, I will d/l them and see what I am getting.

Right, running @3208.7Mhz (401 x8)
Dram - 802
PCI-e freq 101 (no idea what this means but I am running off a recommendation!)
PCI Clock (33.3 as above :p )
mem volt: 2.15
cpu vcore 1.5
fsb terminator 1.4 (as the two above :p )

RAM timings 4 4 4 12 (as above again!)

Using TAT, I am reading 58-62 (core 1), 57-59 (core2) when running Orthos, 43,43 when idling.
When I ramped up the two cpu's to 100% in TAT, the temps went to 70C  , so I stopped that!! I'm pretty sure I don't max my 6400 to 100%

**EDIT** Just running task manager and the two cpu's are at 100% when running Orthos - so what he heck is TAT doing when I ramp it upto 100%!!??

When running 3dmark 2006 I was getting the same temps in Asus which probably equates to 68C in TAT terms! Again, I am pretty sure I won't max out my cpu's.

Next job is to lower vcore slightly to what Netby suggested.

If anyone is reading this, I will post again! :)
