MY FIRST OVERCLOCK!!

Come on lads overclock em a bit more, it wont blow up, i promise.

Chopper, yours should overclock quiet a lot with little hassle get up to 3.2 for kicks first.

well once i did overclock it to 2.82ghz, i opened speed fan it was showing it in flames :confused: :(
 
Its should be fine, i just sold a non-overclocked P4 with the same specs as yours to a mate within 10 minutes of it being set up it was up to 3.6Ghz very easily! I was shocked and confused as to why i never overclocked that chip before.

He was using an Akasa Evo120 for cooling.

btw how do i keep ram speeds (Mhz) voltage and latency timings @ stock whilst raising the fsb cuz i dont wanna mess around with the ram till i know what im doing
 
Raise the FSB and use Ram dividers to set your RAM speed.

So for example if you're running a 300FSB and you want your RAM to run at 200 then you'd set your divider to 3:2.

You have a problem with your CPU cooler mate. What type are you using? Spend 20 quid on a decent Arctic Freezer 7 and some AS thermal paste and you'll be able to get it up to 3.6 no problem.
 
yea get an ac freezer7 i got idle temps of 18C with it and thats with the standard TIM that came with it, so with AS5 will probably be like 15-16C

it was a compliment to the cpu. that cpu's overclock starting point should be at 3ghz. anything below is just plain silly and unheard of. :D

im new to this over clocking thingy!!! hence thread title MY 1ST OVERCLOCK anyways i cranked it up a lil can anyone tell me how im doing....(i will join the 3ghz club.......eventually)

another thing.... how i set ram dividers i can seem to find it in my bios

EDIT just noticed on that pic my voltage is like 1.2v i havent adjusted it how come its not 1.35v (e6600 stock voltage?) ?

are you trying higher and its not working or are you just working upwards very slowly?

i got an ac freezer 7 on it for bangs per buck its the best cooler, although a zalman flower will give slightly better results, they cost £38 ex. vat and p&p
