Hey guys,
Juast thought Id post about my first overclocking experience. Bought a q6600 g0, thermalright 120 exrtreme, noctua fan, p135pro mobo, 8800 gtx etc and set it up to run nicely at stock settings.
My mate, who also has a remarkably similar spec (we bought on the same day and he liked my spec
) overclocked to 2.88 on stock with no voltage changes and then to 2.4/2.5/2.6 in the days after that. I decided to try the 2.88 and then was nervous about upping the voltages, so he got it up to 3.4 for me.
Then I sat down and until 4am the other morning I fiddled with it until I got a stable a reasonably cool 3.6ghz - getting around 60~degrees under load.
Also overclocked the 8800gtx (cheap OCUK version) to 615/1015(615/2030), and now im scoring 13654 in 3dmark 06, which as far as Im concerned is really nice!
So yeah the point of this post was just to say that Im really impressed with what I overclocked to and Im amazed by how easy it actually is! So to all the overclocking noobs out there- just go and do it! Ive now caught the bug.... although the only thing holding me back at the minute is my ram... *sigh*
Im pleased with this anyways
