Got my First Payed yesterday.

A young lady who runs a Spa Treatment studio from her home has employed a friend of mine to create her a nice inviting website.

They trolled the internet for 'Stock' photos but found none that suited the website. So as I#m starting up my Photography hobby/business and as I did my Friends Wedding a couple of months ago! he suggested getting me to do the photos...

Here's a little snifter of them!... (c&c welcome... I think!)

Manicures..

Its a start, but the customer who had quite an imput in the types and composure of the shots was nicely impressed.

Happy Bunny!! :)

Good job, aslong as the customer gets what they want thats job done :D

Just a couple of questions about the shots. The Product shot, would increasing the DoF not be better to show more of the products rather than just isolating one?

Also on the Manicure shot, there doesn't seem to be many of the nails in focus? More on the tips of the flower. distracting what will essentially be what your friend will be advertising.

EDIT:
Just viewed a couple of the Exifs and the shutter speeds do seem quite slow, and with using the nifty fifty at f1.8 thought they may be quicker. better lighting on a reshoot?

Yup I was about to say exactly the same thing. WB is too warm and shutter/DOF needs looking at.

A good start definitely, but there's room for improvement.

The WB is way too warm on the product and brushes! Similar comment to others really, increase the depth of field. For these type of shots you want to aim to get everything in focus really. The product shot is the only one which really works with a shallow dof but that still could do with a larger dof to get more of an impact. Also ther shadows on the pedicure are a little hard, maybe try with a more diffused light?

Cheers Guys...

Great comments.

Yeah everything was shot in RAW.

The Product Shot wanted to just 'highlight' the product name, not the products as she only had a few of the large array on display and didn't want people thinking these were the only ones she had so it sort of 'tails off' in the distance giving the customer the illusion of 'There's More!'

I do have a couple more shots of the 'Manicure', I processed soo many photos I got lost, and Imageshack was messing me around when uploading, and I didn't want to use any of my Webspace just yet till they're finnished. :D

As I'm only starting out I don't have much in the way of equipment, plus as its only a Hobby/ Extra income deal at the mo I can't afford much in the way of Lighting..

The Lighting in the room was, a Celing light, a Standard Lamp in the corner and what was coming through the window (and being in Swindon that wasn't much!).

Could someone suggest some different types of lighting I could get to help in these and any future shoots I do.

I'm gonna have a look at the WB of the originals (I'm new to Lightroom and PS-CS3 so its all alien to me still)..

Can anyone point me at some decent tutorials on t'interweb for fettling photos :)

The Shots are going to be smaller than they are here, as they're on a Website, but I still want em to look good!!

Cheers
Sim :)
