Hi everyone, this is my first post so please, be kind...

I've decided i'm going to put together a PC build for the first time, with gaming/video-editing/programming in mind.

I've done research, and looked around and this is what i've come up with:

Processor:
Intel Core i7 4770K (Haswell)

Motherboard:
Asus Z87-Deluxe

CPU Fan:
I havnt found one of these yet, Im assuming the stock one that comes with the i7 will not be up to much?

RAM:
Corsair Vengeance SODIMM 16GB (2x8GB)) @ £139.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-364-CS

Hard Drive:
Toshiba 1TB SATA 6GB/s
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-024-TS @ £49.99

SSD:
Samsung 250GB SSD SATA 6GB/s Basic @136.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-162-SA

Graphics Card:
KFA2 GeForce GTX 680 EX OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-ExpressGraphics Card @£319.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-013-KF&tool=3

Power Supply:
Akasa Venow 550w Modular '80 Plus' Power Supply @53.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-056-AK&groupid=701&catid=123

Case:
Lian Li PC-60FNWX Midi Tower Windowed Case - Pure Black @£139.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-192-LL&groupid=2362&catid=187

Could you guys tell me if there are any flaws in what I have chosen in terms of compatibility, and also whether everything I have listed will fit in the Lian Li case I have identified? Thanks in advance!

Welcome,

Sorry you will have to remove the links and prices to all competitors... You can keep the OCUK links though. :)

EDIT: i see a problem straighht away, you've picked SODIMM RAM not normal RAM. SODIMM is laptop memory. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Please remove the competitor links and check the FAQ regards these :)

Sorry I didnt realise about the links! Have edited the post now, thanks for the advice on the RAM, could you reccomend something more appropriate, I want 16 @ 2x8GB, around the £140 as a maximum price, something that will be compatible with the rest.

Thanks teppic, that looks like a better choice! RAM aside does everything else look sufficient, i.e the Case will house these components, and do I need a better fan than the stock supplied with the haswell?

Hi RJC, that does look like a good deal, unfortunately I wont be purchasing anything until next month, (when I get paid), Going back to my list, can anyone confirm that it will build, if of course i swap the incorrect RAM i listed for one of the suggestions below, and also wether or not I need to get a fan to replace the stock haswell one, if so can anyone reccomend one. Finally will all the components fit in the Lian Li case I have selected?

No probs :)

The case should fit all items but you would need to check the GPU length of the one your looking at purchasing.

I would suggest a WD Caviar Blue for your HDD instead of the toshiba, as they are more highly regarded. Also you could get this psu instead: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-003-XF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2463

although it maty be £15 more expensive, it is a much better psu and would provide you with some more headroom.
