My first rig project :D

Haven't done much gaming wise with this system yet. I tried Skyrim but it didn't really hack it properly. I just bought starcraft 2 though and that plays ok

What thermal paste did you use on the cpu cooler and how much did you put on?

Ive been trying to remember what thermal paste I used. I think it might have been the one that came with the i5 stock cooler.
Pretty sure I applied the right amount too.

paste which is supplied with the stock cooler is pre applied to the base of the cooler, still think you can get those temps down more so maybe worth getting some decent paste.
Stulid did a nice review of loads of different ones, have a read here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18416534

Cheers very much.

Just checked again in the bios and multiplier is 42, voltage 1.84 and ram voltage 1.55 (although both voltages flicker about a tiny bit)

1.84 vcore on your CPU?

Cabling looks much better after switching those HDD cables around mate, nice job.

Very nice build you have Redek! :) If it were me I'd definitely recommend going for the graphics card before the ssd, so you can start enjoying what you've made

Nice comments, cheers guys.

I had planned to get the ssd first, but I guess I'll spend £200 firstly on the gfx. Hopefully I'll have enough spare for both of them on my xmas paycheck.

I have no idea where 1.84 came from. I just checked again and its actually in offset mode at 1.214

Redek is 1.84 your vcore/cpu voltage, if so what are you using to cool? Chilled water? Ln2? Normal-NO.

got an H60 water cooler, so plain H2O i guess

Those temps at those clocks with the cpu and cooler you have SCREAMS that something is not right. I know all chips are different but my 2500k is sitting at 4.7GHz with 1.34v and I never go above 75*C with a cooler which is not quite as good as yours. I would personally try a re-mount of the water block with new paste and make sure it's all fixed down securely.
